Description
The invention relates to a suspension cable, in particular for hanging or cable-stayed bridges that are provided with a sheath.
Known suspension cables of this type, namely the main cables of the suspension bridge "Delaware Memorial Bridge" (described in the magazine "Der Bauingenieur", 1953, Booklet 10, p. 348) were produced by spinning and coated by heavier red lead paste wrapped in such a way that galvanized wire 4 mm thick was wrapped around the cables by a special machine. With this procedure but the suspension cable was not completely sealed because there was between the individual turns of wire, even if they have been wound very close to one another there are joints that allow moisture to penetrate the cables. In addition, the wrapping of the suspension cables with thin wire is despite the application of the Special machines time-consuming and therefore uneconomical.
In contrast, the invention is based on the object of a suspension cable of the type mentioned so that a reliable corrosion protection in economic Way can be achieved.
The invention consists primarily in that the envelope through the cable is formed at least above and on both sides encompassing shells and the joints between two adjacent shells through the cable ropes cohesive bandages are covered.
The invention brings the progress that a perfect seal of the cable and therefore the ingress of water into the interior of the cable is avoided and the sheathing of the cable is made at low cost and in a short time can be.
The shells forming the envelope can be made of elastic tubes Material are formed, which are cut and spread along a surface line are pushed over the cable ropes from above. May be on the bottom of the cable a cover formed by further shells, over the edges of the grab other bowls from above. To fix the bandages one uses expedient bolts that are inserted between the ropes of the cable.
It is particularly favorable for such a covering if the cable two groups of ropes separated by a vertical longitudinal joint in such an arrangement that the height of the cable cross-section by a smaller number of rope diameters is formed than the width of the cable cross-section. Since the width of the cable cross-section is greater than its height, they fit together on this cross-section serving for corrosion protection shells, if they are in the be formed by spreading a slit tube, slightly on. In addition, such a cable construction, especially when the joint has a symmetrical profile between the two groups of ropes, an unconstrained stretching through the mentioned bolts for fastening the bandages. Incidentally, one is designed in this way Cable can generally be used advantageously in cases where the cable is divided into two Should branch halves, z. B. at an anchoring point where a perpendicular sheet metal wall grips between the two halves of the cable. But there is also the case that from the top of a pylon on one side a closed one Cable runs, while two cable halves diverge towards the other side are guided to anchoring points arranged on both sides of the roadway.
The oval cable cross-section developed in the horizontal direction is otherwise also advantageous because there are favorable storage conditions for the cable with respect to the transverse compression, e.g. B. on saddle structures of the pylons of stay cable bridges. In addition, such a cross-section is aerodynamic advantageous.
The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention shown; namely, FIG. 1 shows a cross section through a suspension cable the line I-1 in FIG. 2 showing part of the cable in side view.
The cable has two sets of wire ropes. Each group consists of three ropes 1, 2, 3 or 1 ', 2', 3 ' arranged vertically one above the other and two ropes 4, 5 and 4', 5 'arranged next to one another. The arrangement is made in such a way that the width of the cable cross-section is greater than its height, and naturally a larger number of cables can also be laid one above the other and next to one another.
There is a joint between ropes 1, 2, 3 and 1 ', 2', 3 ' of symmetrical profile, which in its upper part by fitting pieces 6 made of light metal or plastic is filled. Naturally, the remaining part of the joint can also as well as the other spaces between the ropes by means of suitable adapters be filled out.
According to the invention, the ropes of the cable are covered by shells 7 on top and on both sides. For this purpose, pipes made of an elastic, corrosion-resistant material, e.g. B. plastic. These pipes are cut open along a surface line and spread apart. The resulting oval cross-sectional shape fits well with the cable cross-section when the shells are pushed over the ropes, whereupon they resiliently adapt to the ropes in an effort to reverse the spreading.
The ropes are also covered on the lower half of the cable cross-section by placing further shells 8 of appropriate width against the ropes 3, 5 and 3 ', 5' in such a way that the edges of the shells 7 over the edges of the shells 8 reach away.
This sheathing of the ropes takes place over the entire length of the cable by connecting shells 7, B. The butt joints 9 between the shells are covered by bandages 10. These enclose the shells. 7, 8 completely so that their edges overlap on the underside of the cable. To fasten each bandage 10 , two screw bolts 11 are used, which are inserted through holes in the shells 7, 8 and in the bandage 10 and through the joint between the two groups of cables in a vertical arrangement. The heads 12 of the screw bolts located on the upper side of the cable are protected against the effects of the weather by caps 13 attached to the bandage 10. The lower ends of the bolts 12 carry nuts 14 which rest against a rail 15 from below, by means of which the overlapped edges of the bandage 10 are pressed against one another and against the shells 8.
The bandages 10 can also consist of plastic. They are conveniently connected to the shells by glue. The bandage thus fulfill the double task of holding the wire ropes together and producing a reliable seal at the joints between the shells 7, 8.
