Bekanntlich ist es verhältnifsmäfsig schwer, einen flachen Docht in das Dochtführungsrohr bei Lampen oder Oefen einzuführen. Für gewöhnlich wird der Docht in das Rohr eingeführt und dann werden die Zahnräder so gedreht, dafs sie den Docht auf- oder abwärtsschrauben. Sehr häufig kommt es aber vor, dafs nicht sämmtliche Zahnräder den Docht erfassen, wodurch der Docht sich schräg einstellt. Bei dieser Einführung eines neuen Dochtes wickeln sich auch häufig Fasern desselben um die Zahnräder, so dafs deren Lücken verstopft werden und die Bewegung derselben sehr erschwert wird. Besonders bei den Lampen für Oefen kommt es häufig vor, dafs die Spindel bezw. ein Zahnrad derselben zerbricht, und es ist dann mit grofsen Schwierigkeiten verknüpft, diese Theile zu ersetzen, da sie von festen Brennertheilen umgeben werden. Um diese Schwierigkeiten zu vermeiden, hat man' Brenner gebaut, bei welchen" das Dochtführungsrohr und die übrigen Theile des Brenners in zwei Hälften ausgebildet waren, welche durch ein Scharnier unter einander verbunden wurden, so dafs man den Brenner zur Einführung des Dochtes aus einander klappen konnte. Derartige Brenner waren nicht nur verhältnifsmäfsig sehr kostspielig, sondern besafsen auch noch den Nachtheil, dafs sich die Fasern des Dochtes leicht an dem Scharnier verwickelten.
