Bei den Giefspfannen der bisherigen Form ist beim Ausgiefsen ihrer Füllung diese mitzuheben. Die Handhabung der Giefspfanne erfordert daher eine nicht unbeträchtliche Kraftanstrengung, so dafs man bei sehr grofsen Giefspfannen eine Kraftübersetzung durch Rädervorgelege anzuwenden pflegt. Man beseitigt diesen Uebelstand, wenn man die übliche Tiegel - oder Topfform der Pfanne verläfst und. sie nach der beiliegenden Zeichnung als cylindrische Trommel α gestaltet. Diese erhält an ihrem Umfange eine Einfüllungsöffnung b, die mit einer Ausgufstülle c versehen ist, und ferner an ihren Stirnseiten Zapfen d, mit denen sie durch Vermittlung eines Bügels e an den Giefsereikrahn gehängt wird.
