Die rauhe Fläche α des Apparates wird aus einer Menge von feinen, eng an einander gelegten Drähten gebildet, Fig. 6 und 8, die auf einer Tafel k aus Holz, Metall oder anderem Material cementirt sind, und welche Tafel wiederum unter dem taschen- oder kastenförmigen übrigen Theil b des Apparates befestigt ist. Der Apparat wird zuerst mit dieser Drahtfläche α nach oben hingelegt. Mit einem Schreibestift wird auf ein auf die Fläche α gelegtes Wachspapier derartig geschrieben, dafs die Züge das Papier in die feinen Vertiefungen zwischen den einzelnen Drahtlagen eindrücken. Hiernach wird das Wachspapier abgenommen, der Apparat umgekehrt und das Wachspapier c so auf die Fläche b des Apparates gelegt, dafs die erhabenen Züge nach oben zu liegen kommen. Mit den Spannstangen d, die mit dem Haken h befestigt werden, wird das Papier c glatt auf dem Apparate ausgespannt. Jetzt wird die mit Druckerschwärze oder sonstiger passender Farbe auf ihrer Oberseite versehene Einfärbungstafel f, die im Innern e des Apparates, in den Nuthen g gleitend, aufbewahrt wurde, herausgezogen und auf die Matrize c gedrückt. Die erhabenen Züge nehmen die Farbe an und geben dieselbe nach Fortnahme der Tafel/ an das mit der Hand oder einer elastischen Walze auf die Matrize c gedrückte reine Papier ab. Die Schriftzüge erscheinen also wieder in ihrer natürlichen richtigen Lage.
