Bei den bisher bekannten Constructionen von Drehbankschlössern war es beim Uebergang von Lang- auf Plandrehen entweder nöthig, ein Zwischenrad von Hand auszuschalten, oder es mufsten bei Drehung der Handkurbel der Schlittenspindel alle Räder mitgeschleppt werden. Zwar ist es auch bekannt, dafs beim Oeffnen des Leitspindelschlosses die den Planzug vermittelnden Zwischenräder eingeschaltet werden, jedoch bleiben diese Zwischenräder bei geschlossener Leitspindelmutter beständig mit der Leitspindel verbunden.In the previously known construction of lathe locks, it was at the transition from long to face turning it is either necessary to switch off an intermediate gear manually, or all wheels have to be dragged along when the hand crank of the slide spindle is turned. Die Leitspindelmutter wird bei dieser Bewegung durch die Schlitzscheibe α geöffnet: Plandrehen. Wird das Handrad ο aus der mittleren Stellung nach links gedreht, so bleibt die Hülse g entkuppelt, das Zwischenrad h ausgerückt und die Leitspindelmutter wird geschlossen: Langdrehen. Es ist hiermit eine einfache und sichere Construction geschaffen, um durch Drehen eines Handrades u. s. w.
