Die Erfindung betrifft ein aus einem hochelastischen Faden, z. Bei einem Rechts/Links-Gestrick aus üblichen, nichtelastischen Fäden ist die Dehnfähigkeit in Richtung der Maschenreihen größer als in Richtung der Maschenstäbchen. Hingegen ist bei demselben Gestrick, wenn es unter Verwendung der gleichen Bindung und Dichte aus hochelastischen Fäden hergestellt ist, zwar die Elastizität an sich in beiden Richtungen größer, jedoch liegen die Verhältnisse hinsichtlich der Dehnfähigkeit genau umgekehrt wie bei einem Gestrick aus nichtelastischen Fäden, d. h., daß die Elastizität in Richtung der Maschenstäbchen größer als in Richtung der Maschenreihen ist. Ein Gestrick in Rechts/Links-Bindung, das nur aus hochelastischen Fäden gearbeitet ist, weist daher unterschiedliche Dehnungsverhältnisse auf. Dies ist unter anderem darauf zurückzuführen, daß die Maschenschenkel S-förmig in Richtung der Maschenstäbchen gekrümmt sind, so daß bei Ausübung von Zug in Längsrichtung etwas längere Fadenstückchen parallel zur Richtung liegen, in der die Kraft wirkt. Man hat weiterhin erkannt, daß die Verwendung von Flottungen bei einem Gestrick der hier in Frage stehenden Art die Verhältnisse hinsichtlich der Dehnfähigkeit beeinflußt. In diesem Zusammenhang ist schon den sogenannten Buntmusterwaren als nachteilig nachgesagt worden, daß die querliegenden Fadenstücke beim Gebrauch der Ware leicht zerreißen, weil diese durch diese Fadenstücke die Dehnbarkeit in Richtung der Reihe verliert. Im übrigen hat man es jedoch als notwendig angesehen, außer den elastischen Fäden auch nichtelastische Fäden an den Stellen zu verarbeiten, an denen der elastische Faden flottlief. So z. B. ist bereits bekannt, einen elastischen und einen nichtelastischen Faden so miteinander zu verbinden, daß der nichtelastische Faden sozusagen ein nichtelastisches Gerippe bildet, das vom elastischen Faden überzogen und durchzogen wird. In einem anderen bekannten Fall ist man davon ausgegangen, daß eine zu starke Elastizität von Gewirken schädlich und somit nicht wünschenswert ist und hat deshalb durch Verarbeitung von elastischen und nichtelastischen Fäden etwa im Verhältnis 1:1 und durch Wahl einer geeigneten Bindungstechnik erreicht, daß die Elastizität des Gewirkes nicht zu weich und die Möglichkeit einer Aus einem hochelastischen Faden hergestelltes
