Description
Process for the production of pre-reduced iron ore pellets with embedded Carbon The present invention relates to a method for producing pre-reduced iron ore pellets with embedded carbonaceous fuel by hard burning and partial burning of the fuel as well as the application this process for the volatilization of non-ferrous accompanying metals.
It is known to use fine-grained oxidic iron ores in low-shaft furnaces to melt down. It is necessary to use the ores in the form of preformed shaped bodies to be used with incorporated carbon. A variant of the well-known low-shaft furnace is the electric smelting furnace, in which it is also advantageous, as an insert To use molded bodies made of iron ores and embedded carbon and in which the heat input of the endothermic reaction is covered by electrical energy.
For the production of moldings with integrated carbon - with it In the following, only those are to be understood whose carbon content is used as a reducing agent can be effective to a technically noteworthy extent, d. H. their carbon content is at least 2% - various methods are known. These known methods consist essentially in the production of agglomerates, especially pellets, from ores with carbonaceous fuel, optionally using a organic or inorganic binder, such as marl, bitumen, etc. It is too known to use baked charcoal as fuel, obtained by a heat treatment of the shaped body is smoldered and coked at the same time, while the iron ore is pre-reduced will.
For example, German patent specification 730281 deals with the agglomeration of iron ores and processed products using an excess of fuel. So much waste fuel is added to the material to be agglomerated with a restricted air supply that the excess carbon is essentially effective in the subsequent blast furnace process.
Another suggestion is to make hardened iron ore pellets, adding mixtures of carbonaceous solid fuels in certain quantities and iron oxide are pelletized and brought to a sintering plant. After ignition air is passed through the pellet bed and the carbon down to a residual content burned by 6%. The firing temperature is between about 870 and 1260 ° C. After At the end of the process, the oxide used is reduced by about 40% and the Residual carbon converted into graphite ("Steel", 141 [October 28, 1957], p. 180 bis 192).
The present invention relates to a further improvement on that described Process that enables a better quality finished product at a higher price Gain throughput and lower fuel consumption. Basis for the invention is the surprising finding that with simultaneous pre-reducing and hard firing of pellets kept the throughput per square meter of sintering surface and day higher may be known as when sintering the same ore fuel mixture, although it is is that with normal pellet burning the throughput is not kept as high can be as with normal sintering. Throughput rates from 18 to 25 t / m = sintered surface times a day are also in continuous operation, depending on the diameter of the pellets used maintain.
The inventive method consists in the production of pre-reduced iron ore pellets with embedded carbonaceous fuel by hard burning and partial burning of the fuel green pellets with integrated Fuel on a sintering belt by passing hot gases through to over 800 ° C, preferably 1000 to 1200 # - 'C, to be preheated and oxygenated by means of suction Gases a part of the fuel due to the charge brought to ignition temperature to burn in such a way that one for hard burning and partial reduction the iron content up to metallic iron is generated. That Process can be operated in such a way that the loading of the sintering belt by passing hot gases through, their oxygen content for ignition and combustion of the fuel additive is not sufficient, is heated and then gases with a such oxygen content are passed through that the fuel is ignited and is partly burned. But it can also be the heating of the charge of the sintered belt and burning a portion of the fuel additive in one process step be carried out using hot oxygen-containing gases.
One advantage of the method described is that the amount of carbon to be incorporated can be reduced considerably. Another The advantage lies in the uniformity of the process products obtained. Therefor the fact that the requirement for smaller amounts of fuel should be decisive the otherwise frequent local overheating that leads to smelting appearances - the cause of uneven and difficult to process products -guide, be avoided.
In addition, the method of operation according to the invention enables the driving To keep pressure difference smaller than when pre-reducing and sintering a crumbly Mixing, depending on the size of the pellets used, with pressure differences from 100 to 300, generally 100 to 200 mm WS, while in pre-reducing and sintering a crumbly mixture, pressure differentials of 800 to 1500 mm water column are required are. This significant reduction in the driving pressure difference means a corresponding savings in mechanical energy and investment costs for the fans. The finished product of the process of the present invention mainly consists from coherent, welded together balls, whose spherical shape is largely has been preserved, in addition to individual loose balls, but the same as the connected ones Pieces have high mechanical strength.
A particular advantage of the method according to the invention is that that the finished product generally has an even more uniform composition both with regard to the iron as well as the residual carbon distribution than the pre-reduced Sinter.
Another advantage is that with the same fuel consumption a higher degree of reduction can be achieved than when producing the pre-reduced one Sinter with incorporated carbon.
The residual carbon content can according to a special embodiment of the invention except through the adjustment of the fuel additive during manufacture the pellets and the oxygen content of those used for burning and pre-reducing Gases can be controlled very precisely by adjusting the pellet diameter. Bigger ones All other things being equal, pellets produce a finished product with a higher residual carbon content and lower degree of reduction.
Another embodiment of the invention provides for the loading to build up the sintered belt from pellets of different diameters, preferably in such a way that the larger pellets in the upper and the smaller in the lower Layers are brought. This procedure has the advantage that the residual carbon content and the degree of reduction of the finished product become particularly uniform. Simultaneously or independently of this measure, however, it is possible to reduce the carbon content to remove the sintered belt from top to bottom. It is advantageous to continue to use pellets of as uniform a diameter as possible in each layer. In general are for the implementation of the method according to the invention pellet sizes from 5 to 15 mm, preferably from 6 to 10 mm, the most suitable.
It is useful to mix the mixture to be pelletized before or during the pelletization is the same as the aggregates required for slagging the gangue incorporated in order to obtain self-running pellets. It is advantageous to any necessary lime additive, at least partially in the form of Ca (OH) 2 to be brought in, because then with the same carbon consumption a higher degree of reduction can be achieved. You can also use the well-known shell-shaped Structure of the pellets with different fuel contents in the core and the outer layers the ratio of residual carbon to the amount of carbon consumed during firing to adjust.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, the known Rust cover from completely burned pellets due to green pellets with a lower carbon content than that in the upper layers, preferably by means of green pellets can be replaced without any addition of carbon. This sub-layer protects the rust just as effective against overheating as a grate covering made of completely burned material and makes the waste heat of the gases emerging from the upper layers particularly effective Can be used for pre-drying and partial hardening and pre-reduction.
The preparation according to the invention can also be carried out with volatilization Volatile metals, such as As, Pb and Zn, combine by prior to ignition and the passage of the oxygen-containing gases, the charging of the sintering belt by sucking through oxygen-free or reducing hot gases to at least the volatilization temperature, expediently to just below the hard firing temperature, than is heated to over 800 ° C, preferably 1000 to 1200 ° C, before being sucked through oxygen-containing gases and combustion of some of the carbon that has been embedded the pellets are further heated up to the hard burning temperature, which is around 1200 to 1400 ° C will. It is also possible to prevent volatilization by the addition, which is known per se of volatilizing agents, be it in the solid or in the gas phase.
A special embodiment of the invention also provides the phase the process in which a portion of the added solid fuel is burned, in two or more sub-phases thereby to decompose that one after the other oxygen-containing gases with different oxygen contents and / or at different temperatures are sucked through the charge. This modification of the method according to the invention enables the temperature response during burning and reducing as well as the carbon consumption in each To regulate phases particularly precisely. The procedure is below explained in more detail on the basis of some exemplary embodiments.
Dementsprechend betrugen die Anteile ) 0,2 mm beim Erz 1 fl/o, bei der Kohle 12% und beim Kalkstein 12%.Embodiment 1 (partial combustion of the carbon after the call heating) The ore was a pyrite burn with 58% total iron and a grain size of 0 to 8 mm used. 30.2 kg of this ore was mixed with 8.75 kg of coke with a carbon content of 85% and 3.11 kg of limestone dry mixed in a mixer. All components were ground to pelletizing fineness beforehand. The proportions were accordingly ) 0.2 mm for ore 1 fl / o, for coal 12% and for limestone 12%.
Die Gesamtbeschikkungshöhe betrug 20 bis 23 cm.The finished dry mixture was placed on a granulating plate and there under spraying with water into spherical pellets with a diameter deformed from 8 to 10 mm and a moisture content of 1311 / o. These pellets were then at 100 to 120 ° C in the air down to a residual moisture content of 1.01 / o H., O dried. The dried pellets, which have a compressive strength of 5 kg per pellet were placed in a 0.16 m2 sinter pan Grate beforehand with a grate covering of 12.7 kg of hard-burned iron ore pellets from one previous attempt had been covered. The total feed height was 20 to 23 cm.
In the experiment described, sintering and pre-reduction were carried out at the same time, but worked in two laterally successive stages. First was the Charging with about 1000 ° C hot, oxygen-poor gases with an oxygen content from 2 to 4% produced by burning light oil, 10 minutes long heated. Then air was sucked through for 5 minutes, whereby the carbon content of the insert was ignited and partially burned. While the pressure drop in the two stages was between 100 and 200 mm water column.
The finished product was cooled under nitrogen and then sampled. The content of total iron, metallic iron Fe1T and C was determined analytically and from the analysis results oxygen degradation, degree of reduction and thermal efficiency of carbon calculated.
