Durch den Wipper A werden die zu sortirenden Materialien, z. B. Kohlen, aus dem Förderwagen B auf das Stängelsieb C von ζ. Β. ΐοο mm Spaltweite entleert. Die kleineren Stücke fallen durch, die gröbere Sorte bleibt auf dem Stängelsieb und wird durch das Trommelsieb D hindurch nach dem Lesetisch E geführt. Dieses Trommelsieb von z. B. 70 mm Lochung läfst nun wieder die kleineren Stücke durchfallen, während die Stücke von 70—100 mm von ihm zurückgehalten werden und, am Ende des Trommelsiebes angekommen, vermittelst der Hebeschaufeln G G und der Rutsche H ebenfalls auf den Lesetisch E, jedoch auf eine andere Abtheilung desselben gelangen. Beide Sorten kommen so auf ein und demselben Niveau an. Die gröbste Sorte wird auf diese Weise jedenfalls sauberer ausgesiebt, als wenn beide Sorten zusammen über ein engeres Stängelsieb geführt würden. Die groben Stücke wirken auch nicht als Zertrümmerungsmittel auf die kleineren während deren Passiren des Trommelsiebes, und es wird für dieses Doppelsieb auch nicht mehr Raum und Gefälle beansprucht, als für jede der beiden Operationen sonst beansprucht wurde.By Wipper A are to sortirenden materials such.
