Das Verfahren besteht im wesentlichen darin, dafs die mit dem natürlichen Gehalt an Kieselsäure, Thonerde und eventuell Eisenoxyd versehenen oder künstlich damit zu mischenden basischen Materialien, Kalkstein, Dolomit oder dolomitischer Kalkstein, in schärfster Hitze gebrannt und ganz oder zum gröfsten Theil zum Sintern gebracht und danach gepocht und gemahlen werden, nachdem man entweder dieselben langsam hat erkalten lassen oder noch glühend beim Ziehen mit Wasser abgeschreckt hat.
