Die Neuerung bezieht sich auf solche Sicherheitsventile, über deren Kegel α sich eine Platte h von irgend einer Form und in irgend einer losen oder festen Verbindung mit dem Kegel α befindet, und bei welchen dieser Kegel sich in einem Gehäuse b bewegt. Der nach der erreichten höchsten zulässigen Spannung aus dem Kessel infolge leichten Anhebens des Kegels ausströmende Dampf tritt zunächst in das Gehäuse b, bis er hier durch Wirkung auf die Platte /2, die ihrem Zweck entsprechend constructiv angeordnet ist, das volle Heben des Sicherheitsventiles bewirkt. Das volle Heben des Sicherheitsventiles tritt nach einem gewissen Ueberdruck über den concessionirten Druck ein. Läfst nun die Spannung nach, so läfst. auch der Druck auf die grofse Platte nach, und das Ventil beginnt allmälig zu sinken. Infolge des nach oben erweiterten Querschnittes wird nun die Bewegungsrichtung des ausströmenden Dampfes von der Platte abgelenkt, und auf die Platte wirkt dann nur die Spannung, welche durch Expansion des Dampfes in dem Gehäuse b vorhanden ist, nicht aber die lebendige Kraft des ausströmenden Dampfes.
