Description
Method for operating flotation plants The invention relates on a process for operating flotation plants in which highly dispersed lean Emulsions of oils and water are fed into the flotation cells.
In a known method of this type, the required finely divided lean emulsions have been generated by an ultrasonic exciter on a corresponding small amount of a mixture consisting of oils and water, a pre-emulsion, has been brought to development. After a corresponding period of exposure The vibrations of the ultrasound frequency create a highly dispersed emulsion. For a practical operation of flotation plants on an industrial scale, this is known type of production of highly disperse emulsions and has little suitability therefore cannot prevail because they require a relatively large amount of energy only relatively small amounts of such emulsions discontinuously and with great expenditure of time can be produced. But that is the case with the operation of flotation plants Endeavor to produce emulsions with a high degree of dispersion, if possible without the addition of Emulsifiers, these are chemical additives that influence the emulsion behavior, to be produced on an industrial scale, because there are fewer highly dispersed lean emulsions tend to segregate and deteriorate the degree of dispersion.
A method for operating flotation plants is also known, both the liquid flotation reagents with a slight overpressure through a nozzle can be introduced into the slowly flowing slurry and dosed at the same time. An emulsification the flotation reagents in the pulp are at least negligible Scope instead. It is also nice for feeding and dosing flotation reagents the use of double piston pumps with an adjustable amount per stroke is known, with however, the use of such pumps for emulsification is out of the question has been pulled. Furthermore, the homogenization of finely divided mixtures is over Flotation reagents and small amounts of water when operating flotation systems already known; However, this is based on finely divided mixtures and does not create the emulsion directly from oils and water. Finally is too the atomization of a mixture of pressurized gas and liquid on a baffle plate already known; but this is not about the generation of emulsions oil and water.
The invention aims to provide a method for operating flotation plants to create that avoids the aforementioned disadvantages and difficulties, and exists in that the emulsions by spraying out the oil or oils by means of a Piston pump with adjustable ejected quantity per stroke under a pressure of 50 up to 500 atü from a nozzle into the water for the emulsion or on its surface be generated. This enables the required emulsions to be produced continuously or discontinuously with a high degree of dispersion, namely by, that the jet of oil or oils exiting the nozzle through the impact, Shear and frictional forces between the water and the oil or oils in very small The droplet disintegrates quickly and evenly spreads out in the water for the emulsion to distribute. The oil droplets can have a size of 0.1 to 3 #t, whereby individual oil droplets with a size of 3 to 5 R may also occur can do what is without significant influence. A decisive advantage of the process according to the invention is to be seen in the rest of the fact that only the relatively small Amount of the oil or oils must be brought to high pressure, thereby creating a results in exceptionally low energy requirements for producing the emulsions. The piston pump can simultaneously take over the function of the dosing device, so that only the required amount of emulsion is continuously produced. as Such piston pumps are suitable, for example, known injection pumps, such as they are used for internal combustion engines operating in the diesel process, since they enable the required high pressures and the necessary precise, stepless dosing. The small volume of such Pumping makes it possible to do this immediately to be provided on the flotation cells so that the emulsions are only short Lead routes result.
Another improvement in the process for operating flotation plants can be achieved according to the invention that the production of the emulsions directly takes place in the quantities required for this before being fed into the flotation cells. In this case, the water is expediently relative to the point of impact of the jet moved slowly, in such a way that the guided over the area of the point of impact Amount of water corresponds to the consumption of emulsion. The key advantage of this The measure consists in completely dispensing with a stockpiling of the emulsions can be, because this is continuous or discontinuous only in such quantity in each case are generated as required in each case for the abandonment in the flutation cells is.
The dispersion of the emulsion produced can in the process according to the invention can be further improved by being below the surface of the water a baffle plate is provided in front of the nozzle. Here is the distance between the baffle plate to choose from the nozzle in accordance with the prevailing conditions so that the jet of oil impinging on the baffle plate has a maximum impulse there results.
Furthermore, the dispersion of the emulsions produced in the process according to the invention also by reducing the viscosity of the oil or the Oils are relieved and improved. For this purpose it is possible to use the oil or to warm the oils before spraying, preferably before the pump used for this purpose.
The use of emulsifiers is in the method according to the invention Although not excluded, it is usually not necessary and should therefore be avoided.
Lean emulsions for the purposes of the invention are those their oil or tYlene content is approximately up to 1090, preferably up to 3%. Experiments have shown that the degree of dispersion and the stability of the produced Emulsions with a decreasing content of oil or oils increase. For example with a salary of 2.5%, emulsions are to be expected in most cases that do not have any noticeable Let segregation or a reduction in the degree of dispersion become more apparent.
For the purposes of the invention, aqueous solutions such. B. Acids, and other liquids insoluble in water as oils, which act as flotation reagents can be used.
