The invention relates to a method for disinfecting metallic objects and surfaces, preferably consisting of alloyed steels, as well as a device for carrying out the process.
The disinfection of objects made of metals, preferably made of alloyed steels, in the specialist literature also known as decontamination, often requires the removal of the surface layer, because radioactive elements and compounds have reacted with the steel surface or stuck firmly ad- ίο were sorbed. This is especially true for those cases in which a simple washing up with water, if necessary using wetting agents, insufficient disinfection of the surfaces or Objects is reached, as required according to the radiation protection regulations. That's why it has become generally accepted in nuclear facilities, even under concentrated nitric acid Addition of hydrogen fluoride and use at elevated temperature. This well-known disinfection process leads to a deterioration in the surface finish of the object and to a large consumption of highly concentrated acids, which in turn are chemically active as well as radioactive Waste must be processed and stored (see John B. Huff, M. R. Bennett, A. B. Meservey).
The electrolytic treatment of limited parts of a surface is also known per se, in order, for example, to provide certain parts of a surface with dimensionally accurate chrome coatings. The one to be treated The object is therefore connected as a cathode and completely immersed in the electrolyte bath. The task of this known method and the associated device is to create new to produce better quality surface layers.
Furthermore, there is a mobile device for electrolytic polishing of small, limited surface parts a metallic material known. An attachable mouthpiece is used, which is placed on the object to be polished in a mobile manner. Electropolishing treatment then serves to prepare metallographic examinations for non-destructive material testing.
radioaktiv verseuchter Gegenstände und FlächenThe object of the invention is to create a method and a device which are suitable for use under the conditions of radioactive radiation such as in hot cells, boxes and similar nuclear facilities, in which larger areas are contaminated over time, or smaller objects such as work tools and work procedures and devices for disinfection

zeuge, insbesondere solche, die in heißen Zellen verwendet werden, mit kleinstmöglichem Aufwand an Entseuchungsmitteln zu entseuchen, dabei aber ihre Oberflächengestalt und -gute nicht zu beeinträchtigen, sowie einen konzentrierten bzw. leicht verarbeitbaren radioaktiven Abfall zu erhalten.testify, especially those that are used in hot cells, with the least possible effort To disinfect disinfectants, but not to impair their surface design and quality, as well as a concentrated or easily processable radioactive waste.
The object is achieved in that according to the invention for disinfecting the objects mentioned electropolishing is applied. A device used for this purpose according to the invention consists of a hood-shaped electrode, which represents the cathode corresponding to the electropolishing, with an elastic edge is provided which is pressed against the surface to be disinfected, which is the anode forms. The hood-shaped cathode also has a feed nozzle with a control valve and a Drain connection for transporting the electrolyte.
DieseIf, for example, the device is to be pressed against the wall to be disinfected using vacuum technology an additional nozzle with a shut-off valve is provided for this purpose. The inventive The device works according to the electropolishing process in such a way that the hood-shaped cathode with mechanical means known per se or using vacuum technology against the disinfectant Surface is pressed and then into the space thus formed by means of a pump Electrolyte is put into circulation through the connection provided for this purpose. If necessary, in this Circuit storage container or filter interposed, with also a device for production and compliance with a certain working temperature can be provided. Such conditions arise in connection with the electrolytes to be used and are per se by the person skilled in the art resolved according to the circumstances. These
