Description
Method for sizing synthetic organic fiber material The present invention relates to a method of sizing synthetic organic fiber material. It is known to use such material with an aqueous liquor to impregnate which polymers of certain unsaturated organic compounds as well as polyhydric alcohols, and then subjected to such a heat treatment to subject that the finish is fixed on the fiber material (see. The USA. Patent 2,899,341). The method according to the invention improves this known mode of operation in that polymers are used which are derived from monomers, which Contain -CO-NH groups.
Suitable polymers are, for. B. the compounds that are obtained if you take the amides of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, fumaric acid, maleic acid and sorbic acid or the N-methylol alkyl ethers of the amides of such unsaturated acids or the N-methylol alkyl ethers of unsaturated urethanes and unsaturated ureas, such as them z. B. are described in German Auslegeschrift 1035 363, alone or in Mixture polymerized with each other. Also the copolymers of the amides mentioned or N-methylol alkyl ethers with other polymerizable compounds, e.g. B: with Styrene, butadiene, acrylic acid, methacrylic acid or their esters are suitable.
The polymers to be used according to the invention can also be used as a mixture with polymers or copolymers of other polymerizable compounds be used. The polymers containing -CO-NH groups can be used in any desired Way to have been made. Products obtained by emulsion polymerization is used appropriately in the form of the resulting latex.
Als mehrwertige Alkohole seien beispielsweise genannt Glykol, Polyglykol, Glycerin, Polyvinylalkohol und Sorbit.Examples of polyhydric alcohols that may be mentioned are glycol, polyglycol, Glycerin, polyvinyl alcohol and sorbitol.
The quantitative ratio between the polymers containing -CO-NH groups and the polyhydric alcohols can vary widely; in general if the components are used in a weight ratio of 1: 1, in such amounts, that a total of about 0.1 to 0.5 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of fiber material remain. In addition to the polyhydric alcohols, the polymers can also Thickeners, wetting agents, pigments, odorous substances or the like. Are added.
The impregnation of the synthetic organic fiber material can done in any way, e.g. B. by spraying or soaking. The finish Heat treatment fixing on the fiber material is expediently carried out in the manner that the impregnated fiber material for a few minutes to temperatures of about 140 ° C heated. Is it about the finishing of synthetic fiber material? made of polyamides, e.g. B. from polycaprolactam, this heat treatment can if desired connect with the usual fixation of the fiber material itself by doing that before fiber material not thermally post-treated after finishing heated to 190 to 194 ° C for a few seconds.
With the help of the method according to the invention it is possible to produce synthetic Fiber material, e.g. B. threads, fibers, woven or knitted fabrics, in an excellent manner to refine. The fiber material has a full, firm grip, it is absorbent and shows a lower tendency towards electrostatic effects compared to the untreated material Charging. It is noteworthy that the improvements achieved even after repeated Laundry is not lost or is only lost to an insignificant extent. It should also be emphasized that the strength of the fiber material is not adversely affected by the method according to the invention will. The process does not cause any corrosion on the equipment used. These advantageous results can be achieved with the previously known methods which are polymers of unsaturated carboxylic acids or their ammonium salts in combination with polyhydric alcohols or acidic esters from polymers of unsaturated carboxylic acids and polyhydric alcohols are used, do not achieve the same extent.
