KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
An
The door closer shown in the accompanying drawing causes the doors to close securely and prevents them from slamming hard. A spiral spring s is located in a housing g , the outer end of which is attached to the spring housing and the inner end to the sleeve h l . Connected to the latter is the lever h which, when the door is opened, is pushed back by the rod η , which can be adjusted in the usual way ? whereby the spring is tensioned. An eccentric disk e or the like is attached to the housing g , on which a roller r moves. This is pressed against the disk e by a spring f arranged on the lever h. The bearing of the roller can be guided directly on the lever h , or it can, as shown, be connected to a toggle lever bc , the part b of which, against which the spring f presses, is arranged displaceably on the lever h. The disk e is now designed in such a way that initially when the door is opened the roller is pushed back and the spring / is tensioned, while later it goes back again. When the door is closed, the roller must rise against the action of the spring /, whereby the closing of the door caused by the spring s is slowed down. If the door is now fairly closed, the roller reaches the surface of the disk inclined towards the axis of the disk and no longer prevents the door from closing, but promotes it so that the door gate is pushed back and collapses. Instead of the roller, a slider can also be arranged. So that the spring s is more or less tensioned and can be used for doors that open to the right and left, the sleeve h is rotatably mounted on the axis a and provided with a ratchet wheel in which the pawl K engages. The spiral spring can be easily turned around after opening the housing, so that it rotates in the opposite direction on the lever h , and the pawl k is forked at the front and is therefore suitable for supporting the ratchet wheel in one direction as well as in the other .
