Description
Zu den gebräuchlichsten der kalt angewendeten Dauerwell- und Haarentfernungsmittel gehören solche auf der Grundlage der Thioglykolsäure. Trotz vieler Bemühungen ist bisher für diese Präparate jedoch noch kein Verdickungsmittel gefunden worden, welches — falls sich überhaupt Verdickungen erzielen ließen — nicht gleichzeitig die Wirkung der Thioglykolsäure beeinträchtigt hätte. Die Kaltwellpräparate wurden daher meist in Form mehr oder weniger dünnflüssiger Lösungen angewendet, wobei ständig dafür gesorgt werden mußte, daß die hautreizende Flüssigkeit möglichst wenig auf die Haut ausfließt; ein zähflüssiges Präparat hätte die Handhabung dabei wesentlich erleichtert. Zwar werden als Verdickungsmittel Polyäthylenglykole zur Herstellung pastenförmiger Präparate empfohlen, jedoch haben sich solche Mischungen in der Praxis nicht bewährt (s. H. Janistyn, »Riechstoffe, Seifen, Kosmetika«, 1. Auflage, Bd. 2, S. 168). Bei Haarentfernungsmitteln (Dapilatorien) liegen die Verhältnisse ähnlich; von den vorgeschlagenen Verdickungsmittel^ wie Celluloseäthern, Alginaten, Tragant und Polyvinylalkohol, wird in dem genannten Buch auf S. 183 berichtet, daß diese Mittel entweder die Wirkung herabsetzen oder mit der Thioglykolsäure reagieren.The most common of the cold-applied permanent waving and hair removal products include these based on thioglycolic acid.
