Claims (8)
1. Filtertreiber zur Verwendung mit einem Betriebssystem mit:

Mitteln zum Bilden von Plattenspeicherplatzquoten, wobei die Quoten im Bezug auf eine Vielzahl von Quoten-Parametern gebildet
werden;
- Mitteln zum Bestimmen der Plattenspeicherplatznutzung in Bezug
auf jeden der Quoten-Parameter;
Mitteln zum Speichern der Plattenspeicherplatzquoten und der Plattenspeicherplatznutzung in einer Dateistruktur;

Mitteln zur Überwachung von Platten-Ein-/Ausgaben (I/O);
Mitteln zum vorausschauenden Bewerten der Wirkung der Platten-Ein-/Ausgabe
(I/O) auf die Plattenspeicherplatznutzung, wobei die Wirkung eine revidierte Plattenspeicherplatznutzung im Bezug auf
die Plattenspeicherplatzquoten ist;
Mitteln zum Beenden der Platten-Ein-/Ausgabe (I/O), wenn die
überarbeitete Plattenspeicherplatznutzung eine der Plattenspeicherplatzquoten überschreitet; und
Mitteln zum Aktualisieren der Dateistruktur, um die Ausführung der
Platten-Ein-/Ausgabe (I/O) widerzuspiegeln, wenn die überarbeitete
Plattenspeicherplatznutzung keine der Plattenspeicherplatzquoten übersteigt.

2. Filtertreiber nach Anspruch 1, wobei die Überwachungsmittel weiterhin
haben:
- Mittel zum Detektieren von Platten-Ein-/Ausgabe-Operationen,
wobei die Platten-Ein-/Ausgabe-Operationen mit einer benannten
Plattenspeicherdatei verbunden ist;
Mittel zur Serialisierung von Operationen auf den benannten Plattenspeicherdateien.
3. Filtertreiber nach Anspruch 2, wobei die Serialisierungsmittel weiterhin
haben:
Mittel zum Blockieren eines Synchronisierungsobjekts, wobei das Synchronisierungsobjekt mit der benannten Plattenspeicherdatei
assoziiert ist und wobei die Blockiermittel dazu dienen, um weitere Platten-Ein-/Ausgabe-Operationen auf der benannten
Plattenspeicherdatei zu blockieren.
4. Filtertreiber nach Anspruch 3, wobei das Synchronisierungsobjekt ein
Kernereignis in einem Windows-NT-Betriebssystem ist.
5. Filtertreiber nach Anspruch 1, wobei die Vielzahl von Quotenparametern
eine oder mehr Inhaberquoten und eine oder mehrere Verzeichnisquoten umfassen, wobei jede der Inhaberquoten eine maximale Menge des
Plattenspeicherplatzes ist, der durch Dateien genutzt wird, die mit einem besonderen Inhaber assoziiert sind, und wobei jedes der
Verzeichnisquoten eine maximale Menge des Plattenspeicherplatzes ist,

6. Filtertreiber nach Anspruch 1, wobei der Zugriff auf die Dateistruktur
serialisiert ist.
7. Filtertreiber nach Anspruch 1, wobei die Überwachungsmittel
Seitenwechsel-Ein-/Ausgaben ignorieren.
8. Filtertreiber nach Anspruch 1, wobei die vorausschauenden Bewertungsmittel weiterhin haben:
Mittel zum Bestimmen der überarbeiteten Plattenspeicherplatznutzung;
und

Mittel zum Vergleichen der überarbeiteten Plattenspeicherplatznutzung
mit den Plattenspeicherplatzquoten.
