Device for degassing molten steel For degassing molten steel
A method has been proposed in which partial quantities of a melt from a receiving vessel
placed in a vacuum vessel above, degassed there and then
be returned to the same receiving vessel, this treatment
is continued until the desired degree of degassing in the entire melt
is reached.
The liquid steel is introduced into the vacuum container

The nozzle is returned to the receiving vessel. The filling and emptying of the vacuum container
takes place either by changing the pressure in the degassing vessel or by changing it
the immersion depth of the suction nozzle in the liquid melt.
Neben diesem diskontinuierlich, d. h. »portionsweise« arbeitenden
ein Gasstrom eingeleitet wird (Gas-Lift).In addition to this discontinuous, d. H. Working "in portions"
Process is also known a degassing process in which a vacuum container is used
finds, in which two concentrically arranged tubular nozzles open,
immerse them in the same receptacle filled with liquid steel and at
which the melt to be degassed flows continuously through the vacuum container.
Here, the liquid steel is transported through the inner nozzle
a gas flow is initiated (gas lift).
It has now been shown that this degassing process is only one
can gain sufficient usability for steel mill operations if it is possible to
a completely uniform treatment of the entire, in the receiving vessel, z. B.
to ensure the melt located in a pouring ladle and to carry it out in a reliable manner.
This requirement must also be made because the melt during
or following the degassing treatment, if necessary, additional alloying
or deoxidation elements are added and these substances then in a possible
must be evenly distributed in the pan for a short time.
It was now surprising to eat that the uniform treatment of the entire contents of the pan
primarily on the clear diameter of the opening into the vacuum container
The nozzle through which the treated melt is transferred from the degassing vessel to the receiving vessel
got back. When treating the steel in a 70 t ladle, the same: iNge
Results can only be achieved if the clear diameter of this nozzle is larger
was than 14 cm and generally the law was observed that the clear
Cross-section (Q) in cm'- 'of the tubular outlet nozzle 18 to 160 times that of
Root of the contents (a) in tons of the receptacle for the melt.
This law applies to circular nozzle cross-sections. Of course, other types can also be used
Cross-sections are used, but they then have to be slightly larger. To the
Batches of a 70 t ladle e.g. B. treat differently when alloying and deoxidizing
to be able to and always achieve a perfect and rapid mixing,
it is recommended to operate the ladle (70 t) with a vacuum nozzle, whose
Licher cross-section is about 200 cm =.
As with attempts to treat steel melts after the opening
The procedure described was started, the aim was to use the smallest possible
to work with the inside diameter of the vacuum nozzle. This requirement was justified by
that the heat losses from the heat capacity and thus from the weight of the vacuum nozzle
depend. Since this part of the vessel is difficult to preheat, one has vcn @ ucht,
to keep it as small as possible. Furthermore, a sealing system must also be installed in the suction pipe
be accommodated, which endangered the vacuum tightness of the system on this particularly
Establish. It has finally been shown that the durability of the pipe socket
was much worse than that of the other parts of the system and therefore the nozzles
had to be replaced particularly often.
All of these circumstances spoke
to keep the clear diameter of the pipe socket as small as possible.
Materials im Stutzen wesentlich besser wurde.
When using pipe sockets of the inner cross-section according to the invention
It was found, however, surprisingly, that the durability of the refractory
Material in the nozzle was much better. For example, with a nozzle
with a clear diameter of 20 cm 4200t, i.e. 60 batches of a 70t ladle
before the refractory lining of the nozzle had to be renewed. Impurities
in the steel due to wear of the refractory lining of the nozzle were not
and the entire contents of the pan were treated perfectly evenly.
When using a nozzle with a clear diameter of 10 cm, however, the
refractory lining can be renewed after 700 t, i.e. the content of
ten 70 t pans had been processed. This heavy wear of the refractory
Materials had a very adverse effect on the purity of the steel. Also could
no completely uniform treatment with a nozzle of this clear cross-section
of the entire contents of the pan.
