Abstract
The present application describes a method for producing a hard carbon material with high performance and its use. The process includes mixing starch, phosphate and water for impregnation and drying the impregnated material to obtain a post-impregnated starch; subjecting the post-impregnated starch to heat treatment under an inert atmosphere to obtain starch-based carbon microspheres; and introducing a gas mixture of carbon dioxide and an inert gas into the starch-based carbon microspheres for carbonization reaction to obtain the hard carbon material. In the present application, starch and phosphate are mixed for a crosslinking reaction, and the material is N-doped by introducing amino groups and subjected to a carbonization reaction after the starch and phosphate undergo a crosslinking reaction. The raw material can be kept round and spherical throughout the whole process, avoiding the problem of direct carbonization to produce lumpy foam carbon, thereby avoiding the increase of SEI film and thus the decrease in specific capacity and first efficiency.
Description
TECHNISCHES GEBIETTECHNICAL FIELD
The present application relates to the technical field of anode materials for sodium ion batteries, in particular to a method for producing a hard carbon material with high performance and a use thereof.
HINTERGRUNDBACKGROUND
Lithium-ion batteries (LiB) are widely used as rechargeable batteries for portable electronic devices and electric vehicles. However, the increasing scarcity and high price of lithium resources as well as the unsafe nature of batteries made from lithium have limited the use of LiBs in large-scale energy storage systems. Sodium and lithium belong to the same main group, have similar chemical properties, are present in large quantities in nature and have a low price. For these reasons, sodium is currently the most desirable element to replace lithium in rechargeable batteries for energy storage systems, and advanced electrode materials are key to the development of sodium ion batteries.
Various SiB positive electrode materials, including layered oxides, tunnel oxides, polyanionic sodium salts, and Prussian blue analogues, have been extensively studied in recent years. However, negative electrode materials for sodium ion batteries are very limited due to the large ionic radius of sodium. Due to the large ionic radius of sodium, carbonate electrolytes in sodium-based negative electrodes cannot be used in graphite (with a layer distance d of 0.335 nm), which is widely used in LiBs. Other negative electrode materials have been extensively studied, including non-graphitized hard carbon (HC), alloys, oxides, and organic compounds. Most of them undergo enormous volume expansion during the introduction of sodium ions, leading to an irreversible drop in capacity. Currently, HC materials with randomly oriented graphite-like layers are among the most promising materials for SiB negative electrodes due to their high reversible capacity of nearly 350 mAhg -1 , their suitable average potential of about 0.15 V relative to Na/Na + and their excellent cycle stability.
However, the hard carbon negative electrode materials described in the prior art still have low first efficiency, low capacity, poor multiplication performance and poor cycling stability, which seriously limits the development and commercial application of sodium ion batteries.

In some embodiments of the present application, in step S1 the mass ratio of starch to phosphate is (2-20): 1.
In some embodiments of the present application, in step S1, the impregnation is carried out for 6 to 24 hours.
In some embodiments of the present application, the amount of water in step S1 is 2 to 4 times the total mass of starch and phosphate.
In some embodiments of the present application, in step S2, the heat treatment is carried out at a temperature of 150°C to 240°C. Furthermore, the temperature is increased to the target temperature of the heat treatment at a heating rate of 0.5 °C/min to 15 °C/min.
In some embodiments of the present application, in step S2, the heat treatment is performed for 4 to 16 hours.
In some embodiments of the present application, in step S3, the volume ratio of carbon dioxide and inert gas is 1:(4-30). Preferably the volume ratio of the carbon dioxide and the inert gas is 1:(4-15). Even more preferred is the volume ratio of carbon dioxide and inert gas 1: (8-12). As the gas throughput of carbon dioxide increases, the specific surface area of the hard coal is correspondingly increased. A suitable specific surface area is beneficial for the adsorption and storage of sodium ions, which helps to increase the capacity and first efficiency of the hard carbon material, but excessive specific surface area leads to an increase in the SEI film, resulting in a decrease in the specific capacity and the first efficiency, so that the gas flow rate of carbon dioxide must be controlled in a suitable range.
In some embodiments of the present application, the carbon dioxide in step S3 has a flow rate of 5 mL/min to 20 mL/min. Preferably the flow rate of carbon dioxide is 5 mL/min to 10 mL/min.
In some embodiments of the present application, in step S3 the carbonization reaction is carried out at a temperature of 1100°C to 1500°C.
In some embodiments of the present application, in step S3, the coking reaction is carried out for 1 to 8 hours.
In some embodiments of the present application, the carbonization reaction in step S3 includes placing the starch-based carbon microspheres in a high temperature oven, introducing the inert gas for purging for 30 to 120 minutes, then increasing the temperature to a target carbonation temperature, and when the target carbonation temperature is reached, introducing the mixed gas to carry out the carbonization reaction. In addition, the flow rate of the inert gas purge is 50 ml/min to 150 ml/min. Furthermore, the temperature is increased to the target coking temperature at a heating rate of 0.5 °C/min to 10 °C/min.
In some embodiments of the present application, the hard carbon material in step S3 has a specific surface area of 2 m 2 /g to 5 m 2 /g.
The present application further provides for the use of the hard carbon material produced by the above manufacturing process in the manufacture of sodium ion batteries.

In the present application, starch and phosphate are mixed for crosslinking reaction, mainly in the following ways: under an inert atmosphere and through heat treatment at a certain temperature, hydroxyl groups in the starch react with phosphine ions to cause dehydration, and ammonium ions react with the hydroxyl groups of the starch molecule to cause Hydroxylamination, while upon heating some ammonium ions of ammonium dihydrogenphos phat or diammonium hydrogen phosphate are decomposed to produce NH3 , and NH3 also reacts with the hydroxyl groups in the starch molecule to dehydrate to form -NH2 , and the material is N-doped by the introduction of amino groups, forming two or more starch molecules be cross-linked with each other and form a spatial network structure, making the molecular structure of starch more stable and avoiding the direct pyrolysis of starch into small molecules, thereby reducing carbon yield. At the same time, the starch and phosphate are cross-linked before carbonization, and the raw material can be kept round and spherical throughout the process, avoiding direct carbonization to produce foamy lumpy carbon. In addition, nitrogen doping can improve the electrical conductivity of the material and increase the number of active sites of hard carbon, thereby further improving the specific capacity, multiplicative power and cycle life of hard carbon in sodium ion batteries.

- 4. The preparation method of the present application is characterized by few process steps, a simple process, low energy consumption, high operability and low production costs and is suitable for large-scale production.

Physikalisch-chemische EigenschaftenPhysical-chemical properties
As can be seen from Table 3, the hard carbon products produced without the addition of phosphate to pre-crosslink the starch in Comparative Example 1 and Comparative Example 2 resulted in a large increase in the SEI film due to too large a specific surface area, resulting in a decrease in the specific capacity and the first efficiency led. Without the addition of CO 2 to create pores in Comparative Example 3, the specific surface area of the material was too small, which was not conducive to storing sodium ions, so the specific capacity was lower.
