So bilden sich beim längeren Lauf auf der gleichen Stelle in der Gegenwalze oder Gegentrommel kleine Laufspuren, wodurch das Schneidvermögen stark herabgesetzt wird. Besonders bei Warenbahnen, die sehr feine, aber starke Fasern enthalten, wie z. B. Faservliese, Watte, Textilien oder kaschierte Kunststoffbahnen bleiben einzelne Fasern ungeschnitten, wodurch die geschnittenen Streifen in störender Weise zusammenhängen und beim Trennen die Warenränder ausgefranst werden.
