erschien.Control of insects causing damage to plants and their
Stages of development By reacting mercury salts with olefins, e.g. B. Ethylene,
in the presence of an organic compound containing active hydrogen, e.g. B. methanol
or glacial acetic acid, mercury addition compounds can easily be obtained.
Such compounds have good fungicidal and bactericidal activity; she
are mainly used as seed dressing. For other plant treatment purposes
they have not been used up to now, as their use is not promising here
appeared.
It has now been found that the mercury addition compounds mentioned
contrary to previous opinion, good means of combating plant damage
causing insects or caterpillars. In particular, for these purposes too
the compounds previously only used as seed dressing, for their production
simple alcohols such as methanol or ethanol, as well as lower olefins such as ethylene,
Propylene or styrene, are suitable.
derartige Verbindungen seien genannt

vierten Tag voll ab.However, other compounds with active hydrogen can also be used, e.g. B. carboxylic acids, phenols or amines. As mercury salts are z. Examples of such compounds may be mentioned It may of course be useful in certain cases to use various mercury addition compounds, e.g. B. one with ethylene component and one with propylene component, together z. Obtained in a known manner, a high molecular weight colorless liquid fatty alcohol (known under the legally protected trademark "Eutanol") was dissolved, mixed with absolute alcohol and an emulsifier and the mixture was converted into an oil mixture of equal parts of gas oil (boiling range 300 to 340 ° C ) and heavy gasoline (boiling range 150 to 180 ° C) added, so that a solution of the following composition was formed Methoxyphenylethylmercury

By emulsifying with water, an emulsion of 0.05% / yg with respect to the active ingredient was produced. Sprayed on the infested plant, this completely killed pine hawk larvae in the fourth stage on the sixth day and pine moth larvae in the third stage on the fourth day.
