Description
DEUTSCHESGERMAN
It is known that crystallizable polymerization products can be processed at the temperature and pressure conditions which are customary in melt-spinning and other deformation process to films of propylene having an intrinsic viscosity greater than 2, measured in tetrahydronaphthalene at 135 0 C, very difficult. It has therefore hitherto been necessary to subject the polymerization products to a controlled degradation process in order to be able to process them more easily under the usual temperature and pressure conditions. From such partially degraded polymers, conventional processes, such as extrusion or injection molding processes, can be used to obtain films, threads and shaped articles with good mechanical properties, in particular after orientation by hot stretching.
According to the invention, crystallizable linear polymers with high intrinsic viscosity become direct elongated structures are made, and these products have much better mechanical and electrical properties Properties on as corresponding structures from degraded polymerization products.
The invention relates to a process for the production of threads or films from polypropylene, in which a 15 to 80% solution of polypropylene at a temperature of 100 to 180 ° C in a 20 to 40 ° C warm, solvent-miscible precipitation bath is deformed. The thread cable is preferably stretched while it is still in the precipitating liquid. BSE intrinsic viscosity of polymerization products, which are particularly suitable for use according to the present method, measured in tetrahydronaphthalene at 13O 0 C is between 0.5 and 7. FIG.
According to the invention, polymerization products with high intrinsic viscosity can not only without previous degradation treatment processed into threads or films with high mechanical strength but the invention also has the advantage that due to the relatively low temperature, in which one works', the use of relatively small amounts: of heat stabilizers, which according to an embodiment of the invention in the solution, for example in an amount of 0.05 to 0.5 percent by weight, may be included, is possible. The stabilizers can; develop their effectiveness, if they are homogeneously dispersed in the solution and are not subject to the destructive effect of higher temperatures to which they are subjected in processes involving a molten polymerization mass is used. The relatively low temperatures used also allow the Use of stabilizers that otherwise could not be used.

. .Solvents for the polypropylene in question are, for example, certain hydrocarbon solvents, such as the various petroleum fractions, high-boiling petroleum distillates, paraffin, toluene, xylene, tetrahydronaphthalene, decahydronaphthalene, mixtures of diphenyl with diphenyl ether; halogenated hydrocarbons, such as tetrachloroethane, chlorobenzene, orthodichlorobenzene, α-chloronaphthalene or ethylene dibromide; Ketones, such as methyl ethyl ketone, cyclopentanone or cyclohexanone, and also cetyl alcohol, cyclohexanol, butyl acetate, isoamyl acetate, ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, butylene glycol, nitrobenzene, benzonitrile or thiophene. The solution effect usually only appears above a certain minimum temperature, which depends on the nature of the solvent and which, as has been found, usually between. 60 and 120 0 C is. In fact, polypropylene is practically insoluble in the cold. Of all the solvents mentioned, the most suitable solvents for the preparation of the solution are petroleum fractions and other aliphatic hydrocarbons which boil at temperatures of 170 to 250.degree. . .

Die angewandte Fällflüssigkeit besteht vorzugsweise aus wenigstens einem niederen aliphatischen Alkohol und/ oder wenigstens einem aliphatischen Keton, Sobald die Lösung mit dem Fällbad in Berührung kommt, wird das Polymerisationsprodukt als schmiegsames und klares oder im wesentlichen klares geformtes Gel ausgefällt, das zur Orientierung der Moleküle ge- ίο streckt werden kann, wodurch die Festigkeit und die Elastizität des Endproduktes verstärkt werden.product is first dispersed in the cold solvent and then the dispersion is heated with stirring, until it is completely homogeneous. The precipitating liquid used preferably consists of at least one lower aliphatic alcohol and / or at least one aliphatic ketone, as soon as the solution comes into contact with the precipitation bath, the polymerization product is considered pliable and clear or substantially clear shaped gel precipitated which is used to orient the molecules can be stretched, thereby increasing the strength and elasticity of the end product.
Die Temperatur des Fällbades hängt von der dafür verwendeten Flüssigkeit und von der Art der Gegenstände, die durch das Fällbad gepreßt werden, ab. xsThe temperature of the felling bath depends on the liquid used and the type of objects, which are pressed through the precipitation bath. xs
By dispersing 20 parts by weight of a polypropylene with an intrinsic viscosity of 5.7 in 80 parts by weight of a petroleum fraction with a boiling point of 170 to 200 ° C, which contained 0.05 parts by weight of dibutyltin dilaurate, a solution was prepared at room temperature and the mixture to 170 ° C heated. The solution was forced through a spinneret having 30 holes 150 microns in diameter at a speed of 20 m / min into an ethanol bath maintained at a temperature of 25-30 ° C. After a run of 2 m in the ethanol bath, the 30 single threads obtained were run over rollers, which yeast at a peripheral speed of 40 m / min, then removed from the bath as a thread cable and finally wound onto bobbins. The threads were then stretched in hot air at 135 ° C. with a stretching ratio of 1: 5, and they have the following properties:

A propylene polymerization product with an intrinsic viscosity of 4.1 is mixed with 0.5 percent by weight of dibutyltin dilaurate. 30gewichtsprozentige a solution is prepared in a petroleum fraction having a boiling point of 170-200 0 C of this mixture.
