Process for the preparation of metal-containing azo dyes It has been found that valuable azo dyes are obtained if diazotized amines with azo components of the general composition - where Ar is an aromatic radical of the benzene or naphthalene series and R stands for a radical which bears a complex-forming group which forms 5- or 6-membered rings with heavy metals including the nitrogen atom of the S 02N H - R group, in o- or Coupling the p-position to the hydroxyl group and treating the azo dyes so obtained in substance or on the fiber with metal donors.
Dyes of this type contain, for example, linked via - S 02 - the remainder of aminoacetic acid, anthranilic acid or 8-aminoquinoline. When metal-donating agents act on the dyes to be used according to the invention, complex compounds are obtained which can be represented, for example, by the following formula: The color change of the non-metallized oxyazo compound (acidic pale yellow, alkaline red) is canceled out by the metallization. The bright yellow colored metal-containing dye is also considerably improved in lightfastness compared to the metal-free dye. It can be seen from both findings that the auxochrome in the sense of the formula is included in the complex compound.
The metal-containing dyes are suitable for coloring animals

Beispiel
1 13,8 g 1-Amino-3-nitrobenzol werden in 200 ml Wasser und 30'm1 Salzsäure gelöst;
Die entstandene Diazoverbindung läßt man zu einer Lösung von 30 g 1-Oxybenzol-2-sulfonsäureglykokollid;
The chromium complex compound of the monoazo dye aminobenzene @ 1-oxynaphthalene-2-co-carboxymethylsulfonic acid amide produced according to the process on the fiber is distinguished from the chromium complex compound of the monoazo dye 1-aminobenzene-2-benzaphthalene-2-sulfonic acid known from Example 3 of German patent 821977 and obtained on the fiber. 6-sulfonic acid is characterized by better alkaline flexing fastness. Example 1 13.8 g of 1-amino-3-nitrobenzene are dissolved in 200 ml of water and 30 ml of hydrochloric acid; a solution of 7 g of sodium nitrite in 30 ml of water is added to this at 5 to 10 ° C. The resulting diazo compound is added to a solution of 30 g of 1-oxybenzene-2-sulfonic acid glycocollide; Add 30 g of soda and 200 ml of water. The resulting monoazo dye of the formula is precipitated by adding sodium chloride, filtered and dried. He dyes wool and polyamide fibers from acid baths in pale yellow tones. When immersed in aqueous ammonia solution, the color changes to orange-red. The color is developed to a strong yellow by an aftertreatment with sodium dichromate in an acid bath. The aftertreated coloration no longer shows any change in alkali. Example 2 19.5 g of sodium 1-aminobenzene-4-sulfonic acid are dissolved in 200 ml of water. The solution is mixed with 30 ml of hydrochloric acid and 7 g of sodium nitrite in 30 ml of water. The diazo compound thus prepared is added to a solution of 32.7 g of 4-chloro-1-oxybenzene-2-sulfonic acid anthranilide. The resulting azo dye is precipitated by adding sodium chloride, filtered and dried. Fr corresponds to the formula and dyes wool in weak yellowish-brown shades, which by post-treatment with sodium dichromate in an acidic bath 1: to. a: strong yellow-brown to be developed. While the non-metallized coloring changes to red with alkali, the chromed coloring does not change its hue with an alkaline treatment.
umschlagen.Example 3 9.3 g of aminobenzene are diazotized in the usual way. The diazotizing solution is poured into a solution of 28.3 g of 1-oxynaphthalene-2-sulfonic acid-a) -carboxymethylsulfonic acid amide in 300 ml of water, 20 ml of 30% sodium hydroxide solution and 20 g of soda. After the coupling has ended, the mixture is blunted with hydrochloric acid to a weakly alkaline to neutral reaction and the resulting dye is precipitated with sodium chloride. It dyes wool from an acid dyebath in orange tones, which turn yellow-brown when treated with potassium dichromate.

The azo component is prepared in the following way: 112 g of 1-oxynaphthalene-2-sulfonic acid are heated to 80 ° C. in 1250 ml of water and adjusted to p $ 10.5 with sodium hydroxide solution. After the clear solution has cooled to 35 ° C., 88 g of benzosulphonyl chloride are finely added dropwise while maintaining p. u10.5. Towards the end of the reaction, the reaction product, the benzenesulfonic acid ester of 1-oxynaphthalene-2-sulfonic acid, separates out in crystalline form. It is filtered off, washed well with water and dried. -88.5 g of the benzenesulfoester (sodium salt) obtained according to the preceding procedure are stirred in 125 ml of phosphorus oxychloride and treated with 70 g of phosphorus pentachloride. The temperature rises to 45 ° C., the mixture is heated to 110 ° C. for a further 3 hours, then allowed to cool and poured onto ice with stirring. The sulfochloride, which precipitated in solid form after some time, is filtered off and added to the solution of 25 g of aminoacetic acid in 300 ml of water at 40 ° C., a pH of about 9 being maintained by adding sodium hydroxide solution at the same time. When the reaction is complete, 100 ml of 30% sodium hydroxide solution are added and the mixture is heated at 80 ° C. for 1 hour to saponify the benzenesulfonic acid ester. Finally, after adding a little animal charcoal, it is clarified and the reaction product is precipitated with hydrochloric acid. It is filtered off, the precipitate is recrystallized from hot water and dried.
