Description
For the production of hard coal briquettes it is. known, the processed fine coal, z. B. anthracite or lean coal, to mix in coal-tar pitch as a binder. By adding tar pitch to the briquetting charcoal, the proportion of volatile constituents in the briquettes is increased to such an extent that they burn with smoke formation, which leads to sooting of the flues and is particularly troublesome when used as a house fire. With this increase in the proportion of volatile components in the briquettes, the anthracite fine coal is practically converted into lean briquette and the lean fine coal into edible briquette. It is also known to use up to 25% tar pitch, so-called stretch pitch, stretched with related substances, or to replace part of the pitch with naphthalene or with raw tar surcharges. However, these processes have not been satisfactory, especially since they have the serious disadvantage that the use of coal tar pitch is associated with the risk of pitch cancers among those employed in the briquette factories.
Attempts have also been made to use briquetting charcoal Mix in synthetic resins, the quantitative ratio under the assumption of equivalent strength figures 5.7% pitch to 7.3% resin powder. Such hard coal briquettes mixed with synthetic resins however, have not been able to introduce themselves in practice because you are extraordinarily strong and unpleasant smell was an obstacle to the cellaring of the briquettes, especially for house fires. There are also about 5 to 8 ° / o organic constituents as a waste product of the pulp industry having sulphite waste liquor added to the briquetting coal, the organic constituents in Resins, lignin and pentosan components come into play as adhesives. The one in the Sulphite waste liquor usually present with 7.5 Be at 20 ° C is thickened to 30 to 34 ° Be, whereby it still has a water content of 53 to 38%. This high water content forced the briquettes to be around 20 m long. Drying ovens, temperatures between about 250 and 400 ° C had to be used. Also a surcharge Sulphite cell powder changed nothing in these proportions, since this powder is extraordinarily hygroscopic is.
von SteinkohlenbrikettsThe experimental use of a binder made of sulphite and sulphate cell pitch has also not been able to establish itself in practice, because the water carried along in the binders is suddenly released at the beginning of the combustion, which adversely affects the stability of the briquettes. In this process, the briquettes are first made soft

B. when bumped by poker or the like., Disintegrate and fall unburned in a fine, granular state through the grate.
To the. To avoid the disadvantages associated with the use of pitch, it has already been proposed that the briquetting charcoal before the pressing process a binding agent in the form of vegetable starch carriers, z. B. bran, swell flour or swell starch, add the natural adhesive strength of this Binder was used. Borax was also added to keep the briquettes together and mechanical strength, especially fire-standing strength, should impart by helping with the Combustion temperature with components of the ash forms a framework. Those made by this process However, briquettes have not proven to be sufficiently waterproof, so that this process too was left again.
After all, the briquetting charcoal already has starch carriers and. organic binders e.g. Am Form of. Sulphite cellulose is added, the neutralization of the acid being the best and most beneficial Solution was considered. It is also known to use a phenol-containing binder in the form of carbolineum to add to the briquetting charcoal in order to ferment the mixed yeast particles to prevent. The heat treatment takes place at around 300 ° C with superheated steam.
Borax are added - the acid carrier has a Ph "value of 2.5 to 6 and the briquetting material mixture is further heated to a temperature between 100 and 130 ° C. during mixing. This ensures that a still, in the briquetting process into the gradual and almost complete conversion of the starch into dextrin takes place, whereby not only the storability, ie the weather and water resistance, but also the mechanical strength of the briquettes in the furnace, ie the fire resistance, are considerably improved, while at the same time the may previously be considerably reduced deemed necessary amount of starch additive. Thus, the further advantage connects that it od no complicated heating and drying systems in the form of pressure vessels, dryers. like. necessary because the required temperature of about 100 to 130 0 C. even without additional devices within a mixer by means of the in d Such operations can produce abundant exhaust steam anyway.
It has been shown that the water resistance and adhesive strength of the glue layer, which now consists of dextrin, can be considerably improved by the joint use of starch carriers and dilute acids by adding borax, because the dextrin then penetrates in the finest distribution into the pore volume of the briquette charcoal. The addition of borax has the advantage that it removes the acid carrier, especially when using glue that is only slightly water-soluble, ζ. B. casein glue, makes swellable, so that casein completely dissolves at around 50 ° C. In this way it is possible to make the briquetting charcoal pliable to facilitate the kneading work due to the thinning of the glue film. It has been found to be useful to use borax in an amount of about 12 to 18 percent by weight of the acid carrier, e.g. B. Kaseinleims of supplying the Brikettierkohle, whereby a particularly good utilization is obtained in that the Boraxbestandteil in the form of a solution of borax at a temperature of about 50 to about 100 ° C, but preferably admixed with 100 0 C.
Particularly durable briquettes can be produced by using a mixture for briquetting Fine charcoal, rice bran, cold glue and borax are used, with the briquetting charcoal being useful 2 percent by weight rice bran, 1 percent by weight cold glue and about 0.35% borax are mixed in. the Briquettes achieved in this way have an extremely high strength and water resistance and have a shell-like break.
The method according to the invention is analogous to the briquetting of peat, of flotation sludge or applicable from gout dust.
In the drawing is the scheme of the operation in the production of briquettes according to the process shown according to the invention, for example.
Am unteren Ende des Mischers ist ein in der Länge kurz bemessenes Knetwerk bei 15 vorgesehen, welches das Brikettiergut an die Schnecke 16 abgibt.ίο 11 derived, from which it arrives via the conveyor belt 12 to a mixer 13 with a vertical longitudinal axis. By means of the steam feed line 14 of the mixer is heated by nozzle inside, wherein the steam is applied at a temperature of about 13O 0 C directly to the coal-starch acid carrier mixture and this causes the degradation of the starch to dextrin. At the lower end of the mixer, a kneading mechanism of short length is provided at 15, which delivers the briquetting material to the screw 16.
The heated by the steam line 14, container 17 contains a solution of borax at a temperature of about 100 0 C, because at this temperature the water solubility is particularly high. Via the valve 18, the borax solution is added to the finished mix by means of the nozzle 19 approximately at the beginning of the screw transport. The screw delivers the material to the distributor head 20, which passes from there into the roller press 21, within which the briquetted material, for example briquetted to form an egg, is pressed.
