Device for gas-tight discharge of material from rotary kilns during calcining
of anthracite it is necessary to maintain a reducing atmosphere in the heating zone,
to avoid burning the calcined material. Especially with rotating
Drum furnaces it can be difficult to remove the calcined material from the furnace,
without atmospheric air entering the furnace at the same time.
In known constructions, a discharge system is used that
consists of several articulated flaps that open automatically when they
get into a certain position when rotating the furnace. With this system is
but it is impossible to achieve a sufficient seal. The articulated keys are
not very resistant and easily split in two.
According to the invention, the material can be discharged gas-tight from the furnace,
and the discharge device has no moving parts. This will. thereby enables
that the discharge device is shaped as a spiral, in the channels of which the material itself
seals against air inflow. The spiral is fixed to the furnace and rotates
with the same.

However, there is a risk of the device that the spiral runs idle and the
The supply of goods is interrupted; there would then be air through the open spiral channels

Would use line as a discharge device for the rotary kiln and the furnace
should run empty for some reason. During operation, the

would be given. According to the invention, these disadvantages are avoided in that
two firmly connected spiral channels are used as the discharge device,
one of which is right-handed and the other left-handed. That way you can
achieve a gas-tight discharge for every quantity produced by the furnace. The one
The spiral acts as a discharge spiral and the other as a return spiral; you are through
a solid partition with two openings for the returned material separated.
The principle of this arrangement is that there is always a practically constant amount of the material
from the discharge spiral back into the return spiral and from there back into
the discharge spiral arrives. This constant amount is sufficient both in the discharge spiral
as well as in the return spiral for air sealing. So the good becomes in itself
sealed against air at at least one point in each spiral. The device
according to the invention is illustrated in the drawings, for example. It shows:

by the return spiral in the line B-B of Fig. 1; 5 shows a section through
the spirals with the connecting channel, Figure 6 shows a section through an opening between
two spirals and Fig. 7 a diagrammatic sketch of the arrangement after acceptance

Fig.5) in die Rückförderspirale geleitet wird.
andauernd selbstdichtend. An der Öffnung 16 (vgl. Fig. 3) in der Scheidewand zwischen
davon, wie viel der Ofen im Augenblick produziert.1 is the calcination furnace, 2 is the discharge spiral and 3 is the return spiral. In Fig. 3, the material located in the oven is denoted by 4. When the furnace rotates in the direction of the arrow, part of the material will penetrate through the funnel-shaped opening 5 into the innermost channel 6 of the spiral, where the material itself acts as a seal against air by filling the entire cross-section of the channel, as shown by the hatched area 7 indicated. The outermost channel 8 of the spiral is somewhat widened in relation to channel 6. However, this expansion may only begin at least 360 ° behind the funnel 5, since otherwise a complete seal would not be achieved at all points of the furnace. A separator 9 is arranged on the outermost channel 8. The material that is skimmed off with the help of this separator emerges from the discharge spiral at 11, while a constant segment 12 of the material passes under the separator and is passed through the connecting channel 13 (see FIG. 5) into the return spiral. The movement of the goods runs in the direction of the arrow. Even if the furnace is not producing at the moment, a certain amount of the material is always returned through the channel 13 into the return spiral. This channel opens into the return spiral, as shown in FIG. 4. The returned material initially moves through the outer channel 14 of the spiral and, as indicated by the hatched areas, has a permanent self-sealing effect. At the opening 16 (see FIG. 3) in the partition between the two spirals, an inclined surface 17 is provided which guides the returned material back into the discharge spiral. This slope is shown in Fig. 6. The movement of the goods runs in the direction of the arrow. It is important that an hourglass-like constriction is provided on the return spiral at 11 in FIG. 4, since the quantity of the returned material thus remains approximately constant, regardless of how much the furnace is currently producing.
The solid arrow line in FIG. 7 shows the movement of the material in the discharge spiral 2 and the dashed arrow shows the movement of the returned material from the entry into the return spiral 3 through the channel 13 and up to the return through the opening 16 into the discharge spiral. It is not necessary to place the spirals one behind the other. They can also be "grounded" one above the other or next to one another; they then do not have a common partition.
Due to the sealing arrangement according to the invention, the air inlet
reduced in a simple and effective way to an absolute: minimum. As incineration
is avoided, the quality of the calcined product is improved.
