Description
Process for the production of highly concentrated nitric acid Es it is known that concentrated nitric acid can be produced by two main methods produces: 1. By oxidation of N204 + H20 or N204 and weak nitric acid at higher pressure with oxygen or 2. by treating weak nitric acid with dehydrating agents such. B. concentrated sulfuric acid.
B. Calciumnitrat, in zwei Stufen fraktioniert destilliert. It is also known that one can produce concentrated nitric acid weak nitric acid in the presence of inorganic salts, such as. B. calcium nitrate, fractionally distilled in two stages.
It is also known that nitric acid is azeotropic mixtures with water there, so that in the distillation of the weak nitric acid the distillation up can be led to the azeotropic mixture. It is also known that the composition of the azeotropic mixture is dependent on the pressure, e.g. B. contains an azeotrope the distillation at 760 mm Hg 68.5% nitric acid and 31.5% water and at one Pressure of 150 mm Hg, 66.0% nitric acid and 34.0% water.
According to the invention it has been found that due to various Nitric acid content in azeotropic mixtures and at different pressures one It is possible to produce highly concentrated nitric acid.
The idea underlying the invention is that one in a first stage from a dilute nitric acid at a certain pressure pure water is distilled off and from the azeotropic bottom product in a second stage when the pressure is lower than in the first stage, highly concentrated nitric acid distilled off and condensed and the bottom product obtained in the first stage returns. The method preferably works in such a way that the first stage is operated under a normal pressure of about 760 mm Hg or higher and the second stage operates at a pressure of up to 500 mm, preferably 150 mm Hg.
According to the well-known manufacturing process of highly concentrated nitric acid from tetroxide with oxygen one needs very complicated and expensive apparatus, such as B. Absorption columns, high pressure autoclaves, oxygen production plants and bleaching columns, which apparatus also require careful monitoring.
According to another known method for producing highly concentrated Nitric acid from weak nitric acid with the help of sulfuric acid is required also rather complicated apparatus and a very susceptible re-concentration facility the resulting weak sulfuric acid. In contrast, the new process is characterized which is a pure distillation, thanks to its simple and inexpensive design the apparatus and also does not require any additional substances, such as. B. Oxygen or sulfuric acid.
In the drawing, the implementation of the new method is schematic shown in one embodiment, namely the scheme illustrates a Two pressure stage concentration of nitric acid.
The distillation column 1, which is operated under a pressure of P = 760 mm Hg is weak nitric acid of z. B. 50% fed through line 2. The column is heated indirectly with the steam introduced through line 3. Water is distilled off at the top of the column and through the line of a cooling device 5 forwarded. The water excreted here is partly drained and partly fed back as reflux through line 6 to the top of the column. That in the swamp the column 1 resulting azeotropic mixture, which z. B. contains 68.5% nitric acid, is a second column 7, which is under a pressure of 150 mm Hg, through the Line 8 supplied. This column 7 is also by indirect through the line 9 introduced steam heated. The nitric acid vapors formed are at the top of the column 7 fed through line 10 to a cooling device 11 and the condensed High-percentage nitric acid is partly withdrawn as ready-made acid of about 99.5% and partly fed to the top of the column as reflux through line 12.
The azeotropic mixture of 66% formed in the bottom of the column 7 is fed through line 13 to column 1 to be repeatedly concentrated in column 1 to become. From the line 13 can by one of them branched off Line 14, part of the bottom product or the entire bottom product of column 7 subtracted from.
