Abstract

The method involves arranging the detection line (18) at least partly along a load line (6) that can be connected to a current source (8) and a protection device (12) in the connection between the source and the load line. The protection device is driven by detection current flowing in the detection line resulting from a local contact between the load line and the detection line to reduce the current in the load line, whereby the cable is used for electrical voltages below a spark threshold voltage.
