Abstract

Manufacturing a substrate (S1) involves: (a) forming a first discontinuous photoresist layer structure (s2) on a surface of a base substrate (s1); and (b) forming a discontinuous organic layer structure (s3) on at least a portion of the (s2). Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a substrate (S1a) comprising: a base substrate (s1a), a discontinuous photoresist layer structure (s2a) formed on the surface of (s1a), and a discontinuous organic layer structure (s3a) formed on a portion of (s2a). (s3a) has a lower surface tension than (s2); and (2) an electroluminescent display device comprising: a base structure (s1'), a discontinuous photoresist layer structure (s2') formed on a surface of (s1'), and a discontinuous organic layer structure (s3') formed on a portion of (s2'). (s3') has a lower surface tension than (s2').
