Abstract
The tower (3) may be of circular cross-section. The prolate spheroid (8) and adapter (2) joining it to the top of the tower occupy a smaller volume than the previous rectangular housing (1,7) for the generator. A shaft (4) extending from one end of the prolate spheroid holds a hub (5) for the windmill blades (6). The prolate spheroid and adapter have a framework made of a fiber- reinforced material and covered with cladding panels.
