Abstract
A device for power supply to electrically operated railways, in which the operating voltage is supplied via sliding contact to a locomotive (1) from a conduction system laid on the railway. Railway contacts (4) with contact arms are mounted at intervals along the rails and are shorter than the shortest locomotive running on the railway and this is provided over its whole length with a vehicle power rail (13) which slides on the railway contacts, so that always at least one electrical contact exists to a railway contact (4) and the locomotive is supplied with electrical power.
