Die in der Kältetechnik verwendeten Anschlußnippel weisen üblicherweise an ihrem anschlußseitigen vorderen Ende eine konische Außenfläche auf. Zum dichten Anschluß von Rohren an derartige Anschlußnippel werden die Rohrenden bisher vielfach aufgeweitet (gebördelt). Der aufgeweitete Teil der Rohres wird dann zwischen einer auf den Anschlußnippel aufschraubbaren Überwurfmutter und dem Anschlußnippel direkt eingeklemmt. Durch eine derartige Klemmung wird dann eine abdichtende Halterung des Rohrendes an dem Anschlußnippel erreicht. Ein Problem solcher Verschraubungen besteht jedoch darin, daß durch die Aufweitung des Rohres und dadurch bedingte Schwächung des Materials eine erhöhte Gefahr einer Rißbildung besteht. Besonders bei Vibrationen kann es im aufgeweiteten Bereich zu Rissen und dadurch bedingten Undichtigkeiten der Verschraubung kommen. Diese Problematik tritt besonders bei Kupferrohren auf, da Kupfer bei größeren Deformationen eine starke Kaltverfestigung erfährt. Hier kann es neben unerwünschten Undichtigkeiten sogar zu Brüchen der Rohrenden kommen. Die Verbindung ist außerdem rein metallisch dichtend und deswegen unempfindlich gegen Temperaturschwankungen und hohe Temperaturen. Im Gegensatz zu bekannten Ausführungen ist ferner kein zusätzliches Dichtelement erforderlich.
