E-Bikes weisen ein ähnliches Motormanagement wie ein PKW auf. Die elektronische Wegfahrsperre kann somit mit maximalem Komfort ausgestaltet werden. Ein Aspekt der Erfindung basiert auf dem Grundgedanken, bei Verlassen des Fahrrades den Motor durch statische Bestromung zu blockieren und damit ein Wegschieben oder gar Wegfahren zu verhindern. Diese Bestromung funktioniert allerdings nur bei geladener Batterie, ist also für ein dauerhaftes Abstellen des E-Bikes ungeeignet. Es handelt sich vielmehr um ein System für den Kurzstreckeneinsatz und das zeitlich begrenzte Abstellen z. B. vor einem Supermarkt. Die Aktivierung kann auf zwei unterschiedliche Arten bewerkstelligt werden:
- - Durch Abnahme der Bedieneinheit
- - Trennung der Bluetooth Verbindung (soweit vorhanden) zwischen Mobiltelefon und E-Bike durch die räumliche Entfernung des Fahrers
