Abstract
In beekeeping, honey bees are kept in so-called hives. The most common bee hive is the magazine hive. Honeycomb frames are hung in the magazine hives, in which the bees expand their honeycomb to raise their brood or to store pollen, nectar and honey for a longer period of time. Magazine hives come in a variety of types with their own sizes and shapes. Each magazine hive type uses its own frame size. This leads to a problem when the magazine hive type is to be changed to another type, for example by selling bee colonies. The remedy is the honeycomb frame side adapter, with which every honeycomb frame size is compatible with every type of magazine hive. The honeycomb frame side adapter, consisting of a rail (2) with a trailer part (1) and a side fork (3), is simply attached to the existing honeycomb frame and hooked into the selected magazine hive. The rail (2) rests against the side rail (5) of the honeycomb frame. The side fork (3) fixes the honeycomb frame to the rail. If the rail is spread out (4), it is also possible to avoid wild construction between the magazine loot and the honeycomb frame. The honeycomb frame side adapter is an adapter for extending the upper beam of the honeycomb frame. It is used in beekeeping in magazine hives in order to be able to change to another type of magazine hive in a gentle and simple process for the benefit of the bees.
Description
Die Erfindung betrifft einen Wabenrähmchen-Seitenadapter gemäß Anspruch 1.The invention relates to a honeycomb frame side adapter according to
In beekeeping there are different ways of keeping honey bees. The most common and widespread is the magazine booty mode of operation. Honey bees are kept in so-called magazine hives. In the magazine hives there are honeycomb frames on which the honey bees breed, but also store pollen, nectar and honey for a longer period of time. The honeycomb frames are simple frames, mostly made of wood, which are hung from above in the magazine beehives.
Magazine pouches come in many different types, sizes and shapes. There is no uniform size, no uniform standard and each type of magazine hive has its own honeycomb size. The common type names are e.g. Datant, Deutsch Normalmaß (DNM), Langstroth, Freudenstein and Zander. A beekeeper can use different types of magazine hives at the same time, depending on their preference.
US 2005/0 282 466 A1 discloses a device for removing and treating honeycomb frames from a beehive, which serves to facilitate the removal of honeycomb frames.
- If a bee colony is to be acquired, the acquirer of the bee colony depends on the honeycomb frame size of the beekeeper from whom the bee colony is acquired. The reason for this is that a colony of bees is always passed along with its brood in the comb. The honeycomb frames filled with bees and brood are thus handed over to the purchaser. Due to the dependency on the transferred honeycomb frame dimensions, the purchaser is also bound to a corresponding type of magazine hive. If the acquirer of the bee colonies wants to switch to a different type of storage hive, all the bees must be taken from their combs into a new storage hive and the brood, pollen and nectar on the old combs must be destroyed.
This object is achieved according to the invention by a honeycomb frame side adapter according to
The honeycomb side adapter, consisting of a rail (2) with a trailer part (1) and a side fork (3), is an invention that solves the problem described above. It is an extension of the upper beam of the honeycomb frames. It is used in particular when the upper beam of the honeycomb frame can only be extended by installing an adapter on the sides of the frame
The honeycomb frame side adapter allows a quick and easy way to switch to a different honeycomb frame size, including the use of a different magazine hive for every beekeeper. The honeycomb frame side adapter can be installed directly on the beekeeper's existing frame while working on the colony in just a few moments. There is no need to wait for the colony (the bees) to divide or even be knocked off. The bees can remain seated directly on their usual combs. No forage stock and no existing brood need to be destroyed.
The honeycomb frame side adapter is installed in just a few steps. First, the rail (2) with the trailer part (1) is placed on the side rail (5) of the honeycomb frame and fixed by pushing it in. The side fork (3) of the honeycomb frame side adapter also fixes the side bar of the honeycomb frame.
Bees tend to build free spaces within their hive by so-called wild construction of honeycomb. To prevent this wild construction, the side adapter of the honeycomb frame can be provided with a construction lock (4).
