Sind beide Antriebsstränge zugeschaltet (Hybridmodus), würde bei gleichzeitiger Schaltung, d. h. gleichzeitigem Gangwechsel im ersten und im zweiten Schaltgetriebe eine Zugkraftunterbrechung auftreten, nämlich dann, wenn das Schaltelement die Neutralposition durch läuft. Um eine solche Zugkraftunterbrechung zu vermeiden, kann sequenziell geschaltet werden, d. h. ein Gangwechsel erfolgt zunächst nur in einem, z. B. im ersten Antriebsstrang, während der andere, im Beispiel der zweite Antriebsstrang weiterhin in das Achsdifferenzial eintreibt und somit stützt. Anschließend wird auch im anderen Schaltgetriebe, im Beispiel dem zweiten Schaltgetriebe geschaltet.
