Description
The present invention relates to a treatment device, in particular with perioral or extraoral aerosol suction on a treatment chair, such as is used in a dentist's treatment room.
Dental aerosol, d. H. the liquid-air mixture coming from the oral cavity, which is formed, for example, during dental treatment, is generally considered to be infectious and possibly contaminated with dangerous viruses such as the HIV virus or the Covit-19 virus. Furthermore, these aerosols can also contain toxic airborne dust particles. By swirling the breathing air with the spray from high-speed, cooled instruments, an aerosol laden with germs and viruses is created, which contains its highest bacterial and virus density at a distance of 60-80 cm from the patient's mouth and can still be detected within a radius of 3 to 5 m is. Therefore, the transmission of bacteria and viruses through dental aerosol is not uncommon in dentistry.
This problem has been known in the prior art for a long time and attempts are made to solve it in the most varied of ways.

It is therefore the object of the present invention to avoid the disadvantages of the prior art and to provide a device in which extraoral aerosol and spray mist rebound are almost completely removed from the treatment room and which are nevertheless easily and comparatively inexpensively integrated into existing treatment rooms can.
This object is achieved by the features of
The treatment device according to the invention avoids the disadvantages of the prior art and achieves an almost complete suction of extraoral aerosols and spray mist rebound. The device is inexpensive and easy to retrofit in existing treatment rooms.
The treatment device according to the invention, in particular with perioral or extraoral aerosol suction on a treatment chair, has a housing shell for at least one patient's head, a transparent window that corresponds to an opening in the housing shell, a treatment chamber that is formed by the housing shell and the aerosol-tight connecting window , a suction device that continuously enables complete aerosol suction from the treatment chamber, and an access opening that allows at least the introduction and / or operation of treatment instruments. The term “aerosol”, which is used in a simplified manner, is intended to mean “aerosol and spray mist rebound” in the present text.
The shape and equipment of the treatment device can vary. For example, a housing shell in which a patient's head can be accommodated could be provided for the general dental practice. In this case, in a simplified manner, the housing shell can have an essentially hemispherical or semi-ellipsoidal shape. Alternatively, however, the housing shell can, for example also have a cuboid, cylindrical or any other suitable shape. The housing shell is made, for example, of thermoplastic plastic, sheet metal or any other suitable material. The housing shell has an opening on one side which corresponds, for example, to a planar section through a hemispherical surface or a hemispherical surface. This opening is closed by a transparent window. The transparent window can for example be screwed to the housing shell, for example by means of quick-release screws, or it can be attached to it pivotably or displaceably and optionally have seals in order to seal the housing shell in an aerosol-tight manner. In the case of a non-detachable attachment of the transparent window pane, it can also be glued to the housing shell. The housing shell can, for example, be provided with a head cushion for convenient storage and fixing of a patient's head. For example, thermal foam, a deformable gel cushion or an air cushion can be used. Depending on the embodiment, the housing shell can, for example, be slipped over the patient together with the viewing window like a helmet, or the opening can be designed so that the patient's head is placed through it into the housing shell and the opening is then closed with the viewing window. In the first case, a mechanical displacement device could also be used, which moves the housing shell over the headrest by means of a servo motor, so that the patient first takes a seat on the treatment chair and then the treatment device is moved over his head. The treatment chamber is delimited by the housing shell and the window. The treatment chamber can be delimited towards the upper body of the patient, for example by sealing cuffs and / or sealing aprons. Furthermore, a suction device is provided, which continuously enables a complete aerosol suction, for example during dental treatment, from the treatment chamber, which on the one hand eliminates the aerosol load for the patient and on the other hand prevents the aerosol from spreading in an uncontrolled manner in the treatment room and thereby the doctor and medical assistant contaminated. This also effectively prevents the surfaces in the treatment room from being contaminated by the aerosol, which reduces the time required for hygiene measures between two treatments. The suction volume is designed in such a way that with a complete exchange of air in the treatment chamber, for example, only a slight or no negative pressure occurs, but at the same time only the smallest amounts of aerosol can get into the patient's airways. In order to keep the flow velocity as low as possible and to avoid unpleasant drafts, the cross-section should be chosen to be sufficiently large for the fresh air supply. For the general dental practice, the introduction and / or operation of the treatment instruments, such as, for example, probes, drills, suction, irrigation, etc., can take place through the cross-sectional opening of the treatment chamber that is formed towards the upper body of the patient. This cross-sectional opening can also serve as a fresh air supply through which ambient air can flow from the treatment room into the treatment chamber. Alternatively, however, an embodiment is also conceivable, for example, in which the treatment chamber is hermetically sealed from the upper body of the patient and the access openings are only possible through glove box openings provided on the treatment device. Here, only treatment devices that are already present in the treatment chamber can be operated.
An advantageous development of the invention provides a ventilation opening for the supply of ambient air. A dedicated ventilation opening, i.e. no combined ventilation and access opening, could be provided, for example, in the case of a hermetically sealed treatment chamber. A backflow of contaminated air into the treatment room can then be avoided here, for example via a membrane or via a regulated negative pressure in the treatment chamber.
Another advantageous development of the invention provides that the transparent window is designed to be pivotable or displaceable, so that the opening of the housing shell is accessible in the pivoted or displaced state. Here, for example, joint solutions, such as visors on motorcycle helmets, or quick-change devices for completely removing the viewing window for a spatially and / or temporally separate hygienic preparation can be used.
Yet another advantageous development of the invention provides that the viewing pane is essentially made of a plastic, glass or glass ceramic and is preferably anti-reflective. The patient-side surface should be easy to sterilize so that appropriate cleaning can be carried out before each use on a new patient.
Furthermore, additional measuring instruments and Alarm devices can be arranged on the treatment device according to the invention, which, for example, validate and / or document prescribed sterilization steps, for example the viewing window. In addition, measuring instruments and alarm devices could be arranged on the treatment device according to the invention, which monitor and / or document the sufficient strength and direction of the air flow in the treatment device. This is helpful in terms of quality assurance.
A further advantageous development of the invention provides that the aerosol suction has a fan which is provided for suctioning off the aerosol-laden air from the treatment chamber via a suction channel connected to the housing shell. In this way, the air contaminated with aerosol can be removed from the treatment room via a suction channel designed, for example, as a hose. The air could then be released to the outside environment, for example after appropriate filtering.
An advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the fan is integrated into the housing shell. This could be of advantage in particular in the case of mobile or particularly compact treatment devices, since here the entire infrastructure is available on the housing of the treatment device. In combination with an integrated bacterial and viral filter, the exhaust air could be released directly into the environment.
Another advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that at least one lighting element is integrated into the treatment chamber. This is particularly advantageous if the illumination of the pharynx is otherwise only possible with difficulty or with increased effort.
Yet another advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that at least one treatment device is integrated in the treatment chamber. This is particularly advantageous in the case of hermetically shielded treatment chambers. However, in other cases, a storage area for pliers, probes, spatulas, drills, etc. can also be helpful, since these instruments would then not have to be brought in and out of the access opening when changing instruments. An integrated voltage source, for example for supplying energy to a UV lamp for curing synthetic resins, could also be advantageous.
Yet another advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the treatment device is integrated into a treatment chair and / or a headrest of a treatment chair. In the simplest case, existing treatment chairs could be retrofitted by replacing a height-adjustable headrest with the treatment device according to the invention.
The treatment device according to the invention is also intended to be used on a dental treatment chair. Alternatively, however, use on a treatment chair by ENT doctors, orthodontists, etc. could also be provided.

Although the exemplary embodiment is shown using a treatment chair, in particular a dental treatment chair, it goes without saying for a person skilled in the art that other applications in which similar problems arise can also be solved in this way. Treatment by an ear, nose and throat doctor (ENT) or treatment by an orthodontist may be mentioned here as examples. But also the treatment of one Ophthalmologists, can benefit to a large extent from an appropriate protective device. In the case of highly infectious patients, a hermetically sealed treatment device can be used.
