Abstract

Dental care and cleaning agents are available in various forms and are primarily used to clean the surface of the teeth and to prevent tooth and gum disease. Dental care and / or cleaning agents are mainly offered in the form of pastes, creams or gels. In recent years, liquid or liquid toothpastes and mouthwashes have also become increasingly important.

In recent years, an increase in defects in tooth enamel and dentin due to dental erosion has been observed. Dental erosions are irreversible damage to the hard tooth substance caused by acids from foods (e.g. fruit) and beverages (e.g. soft drinks). The acids lead to a demineralization of the hard tooth substance and thereby soften the tooth enamel first and then the dentin.

In addition to daily oral hygiene, vitamins and minerals also promote oral health. Calcium and phosphate in particular help to harden tooth enamel and protect it from attack by acidic and sugary foods and drinks. Magnesium prevents gum inflammation and the age-related increase in periodontitis.

Minerals are essential inorganic nutrients that the organism cannot produce itself. For example, they have to be supplied with food. Minerals are divided into two groups: Elements with a higher concentration than 50 mg per kg of body weight are called bulk or macro elements. Elements with less than 50 mg per kg of body weight are called trace or micro-elements. Iron is an exception; although it is a trace element, it is above definition at around 60 mg per kg of body weight. Remineralizing toothpastes and pastes are commercially available. In addition to fluoride, these contain, for example, hydroxyapatite. Hydroxyapatite is a hydroxylated calcium phosphate salt and forms the basis of the hard substance of all vertebrates. Hydroxyapatite is 70% in the dentin and 95% in the enamel (enamelum).

The availability of calcium compounds for the desired remineralization depends crucially on the particle size of these components, which are sparingly soluble in water and dispersed in the dental care and cleaning agents. In the EP 786 245 A1 Dentifrices are described which comprise hydroxyapatite particles with particle sizes of 0.05 to 1.0 μm, which are obtained by grinding.

There is still a need for remineralizing mouth and / or dental care and / or cleaning that contain the remineralizing compound with a high availability for the human body.

This object is achieved by an oral and / or dental care and / or cleaning agent containing at least one mineral substance of plant origin in an orally acceptable carrier.

Surprisingly, it has been shown that minerals of vegetable origin are absorbed more effectively by the human body, in particular also by the teeth, the oral mucosa, the lips and / or the gums, than minerals of geological or marine origin. Minerals of plant origin are also known as phyto-minerals.

The minerals of vegetable origin are preferably in colloidal form and / or in complexed form.

Colloids are extremely finely divided and very small particles that do not dissolve in water and can move freely. Minerals of vegetable origin in colloidal form are freely ionized and therefore in a biologically active form. Mineral substances of vegetable origin in colloidal form preferably have a particle size of 1,000 nm.

Minerals of plant origin in complexed form include a metallic mineral as the central atom and organic and / or inorganic compounds as ligands. A ligand is preferably linked to the central atom via at least two sites / positions. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the minerals of vegetable origin in complexed form comprise organic compounds as ligands.
