From the prior art different cutting processes for cutting workpieces are known. Workpieces are usually sheets or (sheet) blanks, but also parts made by forming and / or joining, which as a rule experience a plurality of cutting operations in the course of production processes. Before the production of a workpiece, it is decided which machine and cutting method are most suitable for these cutting operations. These cutting operations include, for example, shear cutting and laser cutting.
The aim of cutting processes is to produce the highest possible cutting edges, which are characterized by a large amount of smooth cut, little or no burr, indentation and breakout, little or no edge hardening and as vertical as possible cutting.
Depending on the material and tool design, these requirements can be fulfilled more or less well. When cutting shear, soft and tough materials tend to have a high proportion of smooth cut and low breakout, with a vertical cutting process. In return, however, higher values for the entry and the ridge must be accepted.
For high-strength and brittle materials, it is the other way round. There are relatively few slippery parts and a high percentage of fracture, which sometimes causes non-vertical cutting surfaces and breakouts. This occurs at most minimal indentation and minimum burr. If the fracture is coarse, this also increases the edge crack sensitivity of a cut edge.
Curing in the edge occurs mainly on soft or tough materials. They are the result of massive displacement changes along and in the depth of the edge.
With regard to the process variables, low cutting gaps and low process forces are desired. However, the realization is difficult especially for open cuts, since transverse forces during the cut cause gap widening. Although this leads to lower cutting forces, but provides for larger indents, burrs and slanted cut surfaces.
Particularly difficult is the cutting of high-strength and brittle materials. Due to the very high yield strength of the steels, the process forces and thus the load on the cutting tools increase sharply. Particularly stressed are their cutting edges and the adjoining surfaces (front and lateral surfaces). The cutting edges become dull over time and / or break, while the material of the front and lateral surfaces is fatigued by the constant alternating load and removed more and more in conjunction with an abrasive cutting material.
In order to counteract these effects, numerous investigations and measures for cutting processes with high-strength steels were made. Thus, it would be conceivable to vary the cutting angles of the knives, to modify the geometry of the cutting edges, to cut back pre-cut edges or to use fineblanking. However, low wear with high cut edge quality could not be achieved satisfactorily.
Another possibility of a cutting process, which is used for cutting high-strength and brittle materials, roll-cutting is known. In the case of the rotary cutting process, the upper and lower rollers only have to penetrate very slightly into the material to be cut, in order to trigger a cut. The cause for the sufficiency of such a small penetration is a subsequent break. The reason for the high fracture fractions on the one hand is the concentration of the increasing compressive stresses in the indentation zones of the rollers and, on the other hand, the initially larger and then decreasing shear angle of the curved roller outer surfaces. In a similar manner, it would be possible to realize a (shear) cutting device which initially cuts or punches the workpiece by means of (multiple) points and subsequently provokes a controlled crack propagation. This could indeed relieved the cutting edges of the tools become. However, the crack-triggering peaks continue to be heavily loaded.
The invention is therefore based on the object of specifying a method and a device for cutting a workpiece, with which in particular the wear of the cutting means is lowered and at the same time maintain the cutting edge quality or even improved.
The above object is achieved according to the invention in that at least one notch along a cutting line of the workpiece to be cut by means of a laser, in particular a ultrashort pulse laser or by mechanical scribing is generated and that the workpiece is fractured along the notch by means of the cutting means.
The above object is achieved in a generic device in that the device comprises a laser, in particular an ultrashort pulse laser, or a scoring device with a mechanical scoring knife for generating at least one notch along a cutting line of the workpiece. In this case, the device has, for example, a control which is set up such that the laser or the scribing device generates the at least one notch along the cutting line of the workpiece to be cut, so that the workpiece can be cut along the notch by means of the cutting means.
For clamping the workpiece, for example, both sides of the workpiece to be cut between the workpiece holder and the contact surface are fixed such that a retightening of the workpiece from a non-cutting area is substantially prevented. Preferably, the edge region of the contact surface is provided with the second cutting means, so that the workpiece after the clamping step already rests with its cutting line on the second cutting means.
In this case, it is possible that the workpiece is provided with a notch along the cutting line before the clamping of the workpiece and / or after the clamping of the workpiece by means of the laser or scoring device. In this case, the notch can be engraved both along the top of the workpiece to be cut and along the underside of the workpiece to be cut. It is also within the meaning of the invention that a notch is introduced both at the bottom and at the top of the workpiece to be cut. However, the workpiece is preferably already provided with a notch along the cutting line of the workpiece prior to clamping the workpiece on its upper side.
The generation of a notch can be regarded in particular as laser engraving or laser engraving or as a scratch contour. For example, the cut line along which the notch is created may have a substantially straight course. Cutting lines with curved or more complex geometries are also possible. Under the fact that a notch is generated, it should always be understood in the present case that at least one notch is generated.
After generating the notch, the workpiece is fractured by the cutting means. By way of example, the cutting along the notch is an edge trimming of the workpiece. Preferably, the second cutting means abuts the cutting line, so that the first cutting means is moved towards the workpiece to be cut and the workpiece is fractured along the notch. Due to the existing notch, a deviation of the first cutting means is prevented. In particular, a shear bending moment is introduced into the workpiece by means of the first cutting means and the second cutting means or the contact surface of the second tool half.
In the present case, fracture cutting is understood to mean, in particular, a cutting process in which at least part of the separation process takes place by breaking the workpiece. The cut surface resulting from the fracture cutting is for example at least 50%, preferably at least 80%, a fracture surface. In particular, the fracture cutting comprises introducing a shear bending moment into the workpiece (in particular by (initially) spaced contact of the first cutting means with the generated notch or cut line) to initiate and / or perform the fracture cutting.
As a result, the cutting means do not have to make a complete cut, but after engraving or scribing the notch only create the guided crack. This is the stand Cutting means in relation to a normal punching or cutting operation under a lower load.
The use of a laser is achieved in particular advantageous that even for generating the notch in contrast to the prior art, at least for the laser engraving no cutting edge wear must be taken into account, which can extend the tool life significantly.
Under the fact that the notch is generated by means of a laser, it is understood that the workpiece is subjected to corresponding laser radiation of the laser. This means that laser material processing, in particular material removal, takes place on the workpiece in such a way that a corresponding notch is produced.
Under the fact that the notch is alternatively produced by means of a scoring device, it is understood that the workpiece is subjected to a corresponding scratching force. That is, a scoring material processing, in particular a material displacement on the workpiece takes place such that a corresponding notch is generated.
For example, a gas laser or a solid-state laser is used for this purpose. For example, a laser radiation having a wavelength in the range of 9.4 microns or 10.6 microns is used, which can be generated for example by a CO 2 laser. For example, a laser radiation having a wavelength in the range of 946 nm, 1064 nm, 1320 nm or 1444 nm is used, which can be produced, for example, by an Nd: YAG laser (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser). For example, a laser radiation having a wavelength in the range of 670 to 1070 nm is used, which can be generated for example by a Ti: Sa laser (titanium: sapphire laser).
Particular preference is given to using no continuous but pulsed laser radiation. As a result, advantageously higher energy densities can be achieved. Furthermore, it is particularly preferred to use an ultrashort pulse laser, that is to say pulsed laser radiation with ultrashort pulses. Ultrashort pulses are understood here to mean pulses with pulse durations in the range of microseconds, nanoseconds, picoseconds, femtoseconds or even shorter pulses. That is to say ultrashort pulses in the present case are in particular pulses with pulse durations of less than 10 -6 s, preferably less than 10 -9 s, more preferably less than 10 -12 s. It is also conceivable to use pulses with pulse durations in the range of attoseconds (as in the range of 10 -18 s).
The laser radiation of the laser or scribing is selectively applied to the surface of the workpiece, for example with a robot arm. For this purpose, the device comprises, for example, an automated robot arm.
In the case of the laser, the engraving speed can be greatly increased by a so-called remote control, in which the laser beam is passed through a controllable pivoting mirror. In conjunction with a correspondingly large focal length, even the slightest changes in position of the pivoting mirror are then sufficient to image larger movements of the laser beam on the workpiece surface.
In the case of mechanical scoring, a mechanical scoring blade can be arranged on a robot arm, which consists of an ultra-hard material, for example of diamond, and correspondingly has low wear.
1500 MPa) hergestellt. The workpiece is preferably a steel material. For example, the workpiece is made of a high strength, high strength, or high strength steel material (eg, having a tensile strength greater than 500 MPa, greater than 700 MPa, greater than 1000 MPa, or even greater than 1200 and 1500 MPa, respectively).
Due to the existing notch along the cutting line of the workpiece to be cut in the cutting-breaking operation, the wear of the first and the second cutting means is extremely reduced, whereby the service life of the two cutting means are greatly increased and the maintenance and repair costs is reduced.
Preferably, the first and the second cutting means are formed as a knife. The workpiece holder and the contact surface are preferably aligned substantially horizontally, wherein the second cutting means is preferably the contact surface and horizontally aligned with the contact surface.
After cutting, the trimmed workpiece can either be further processed in the cutting device or removed from the cutting device.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the notch (at least partially, preferably substantially exclusively) is introduced by evaporating the material of the workpiece to be cut along the cutting line by means of the laser. By a correspondingly high energy density of the laser radiation, melting and displacement of liquid material of the workpiece to be cut into a crater can be avoided. For example, the energy density of the laser radiation used by the laser is so adjusted to follow the melting of the material of the workpiece to be cut evaporation (that is, the material sublimates). As a result, a notch can be engraved along the cutting line of the workpiece to be cut, in particular without significant remelting operations taking place on the wall of the notch.
Remelting operations on the wall of the notch would adversely affect the cut edge quality.
A further preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the notch produced by the laser or the scriber device has a depth of less than 0.5 mm, in particular a depth of less than 0.2 mm. Due to the shallow depth of the engraved example by means of the laser notch heat is hardly entered into the workpiece to be cut, whereby the workpiece loses its forming properties only to a very limited extent. However, the depth is preferably at least 0.05 mm, preferably at least 0.1 mm, in order to achieve a sufficiently process-reliable guidance of the break along the notch.
According to a further preferred embodiment of the invention, the notch is generated at a speed of at least 0.2 m / s, in particular of at least 0.7. This means that, for example, the laser radiation is guided at a corresponding speed over the workpiece surface. Because of such a high speed of the laser beam guidance, the engraving of the workpiece to be cut with a notch can even take place within a press without, for example, the cycle of the press, in which the cutting device can be arranged, having to be reduced compared to the previous cycle without engraving , Preferably, however, the notch is produced at a rate of at most 15 m / s, preferably at most 5 m / s (that is, the laser beam is guided over the tool surface) to ensure a sufficient depth of the notch.
A further preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the notch is cooled before the fracture-cutting step, in particular by means of liquid nitrogen. For example, the notch or the region of the notch is at least partially cooled to below 0 ° C, preferably below -50 ° C, preferably below -100 ° C, more preferably below -150 ° C. By cooling the notch, in particular by means of liquid nitrogen, a reduction in the forces required during the fracture cutting operation is achieved. In this way, the load of the cutting means can be further reduced and thus the service life of the cutting means can be extended. Cooling also makes it possible to break in tough and ductile materials without the result of the ductile properties of the workpiece to be cut resulting in a mere bending of the workpiece without breakage or without large bending angles which would be required to achieve the fracture. In addition, the space required for the tool for the folding and breaking process can be kept compact, since no acute bending angle to achieve the break are needed.
According to a further preferred embodiment of the invention, the fracture cutting of the workpiece by means of the cutting means is carried out as a punching operation without cutting angle or as a shearing process with cutting angles. Under the cutting angle is understood in particular the spanned between the first cutting means and the second cutting means along the cutting line angle. For example, the cutting angle between 0.1 ° and 20 °, preferably between 1 ° and 15 °. By means of a punching process, a high cut edge quality can be caused, whereas a shearing process has a positive effect on the service life of the cutting means. It is also conceivable that the first and / or the second cutting means (seen in longitudinal section) are formed as wave-shaped knives or knives with triangular areas. As a result, in particular the required stroke can be shortened and resulting cutting impact can be reduced or avoided.
In bestimmten Fertigungslinien bzw. Furthermore, it is preferred that the workpiece is deformed prior to the fracture-cutting step (but especially after the at least one notch is created). In other words, the notch can be guided through the forming process. The workpiece can be hot or cold formed. The forming can be carried out, for example, in a separate from the cutting tool forming tool. Preferably, the pre-engraved notches (ie, notches created prior to forming the workpiece) are inserted into the workpiece such that they are then in place at the desired location of the reshaped workpiece to be trimmed, thereby reliably rupturing can be executed. In other words, the forming step, that is to say the consequent changes in geometry, is already taken into account when generating the notch. In certain production lines or presses, it is advantageous if the workpieces to be cut are first reshaped after engraving or scoring a notch, and only then are they cut by breakage. Preferably, in the forming in this case, initiation of bending shear stresses above a threshold along the notch is avoided. For example, when forming in the field of Notch smaller bending shear stresses introduced than in another area of the workpiece. However, reshaping after breaking is also possible.
Additionally or alternatively, it is possible for at least one notch to be produced (post-engraved) after the step of reshaping, but even before the step of fracture-cutting. This is advantageous if certain areas can not be pre-engraved or scribed, for example for process-technical reasons.
A further preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized in that at least one further notch is produced by means of the laser or the scriber device prior to the fracture-cutting step and / or before the reshaping step and that the further notch in the course of the machining process of the workpiece is used as cutting lines for Breakthroughs, holes, notches and / or, re-cuts serves. In this way, the additional notch can be provided not only along the cutting lines of the board to be cut, but it can also be a notch for subsequent cutting or trimming operations are provided. This has in particular procedural advantages, since the generation of the notch and the further notch can be carried out directly in one step at a processing station by means of the same laser or scriber.
According to a further preferred embodiment of the invention, at least one further notch is produced by means of the laser or scoring device after the step of the cutting edge, wherein the further notch serves as cutting lines for apertures, holes, notches and / or aftercuts in the course of the machining process of the workpiece. This is particularly advantageous if certain points for procedural reasons could not previously be provided with a notch. Such locations can be re-engraved or scribed using the laser or scribe device after a downstream processing operation, such as a forming step or a cutting operation. For this purpose, the workpiece does not necessarily have to be removed from the cycle line of a press. If the workpiece is received with sufficient position accuracy in the cutting device or the forming tool and if the regions to be provided by means of a notch are accessible to the laser, for example, the engraving can also take place in the cutting device or the forming tool. However, it is also possible to eject the workpiece from the process line, to generate the at least one further notch and then to feed the workpiece again.
The workpiece can in principle be fracture-cut both along the at least one notch and along the at least one further notch (at the same time) in the described cutting device. In other words, according to a further embodiment, the notches for cutting the workpiece and the additional notches and / or the further notches can be processed simultaneously in a trimming tool.
As already stated with regard to the notch, another notch always means at least one further notch.
If the workpiece is not already cut along the at least one further notch in the described cutting device together with the at least one notch, a further preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the workpiece is fractured along the at least one further notch by means of additional cutting means. In this case, the further notch is processed in a trimming tool, which is preferably designed analogously to the previously described cutting device. Preferably, in the trimming tool all areas to be cut can be processed simultaneously. The cutting means of the trimming tool are also protected and cutting stops and gap widening are reduced.
By the preceding and following description of method steps according to the different embodiments of the method, corresponding means for carrying out the method steps by preferred embodiments of the device should also be disclosed. Likewise, by the disclosure of means for carrying out a method step, the corresponding method step should be disclosed.
