Abstract

Description

The invention relates to a cleaning pad for the face and / or the body, in particular a cleaning pad that is dry and is activated by water before use. The pad is especially designed for single use.

Face and body cleansing products have long been marketed in the form of soaps, syndets, gels, creams or lotions. These products are easy to use, in various forms of packaging (cans, jars, tubes, flow packs) on the market and in healthy skin usually not or only slightly irritating to skin. They essentially meet the criteria of effective and mild cleansing of the skin, create a pleasant feeling on the skin after application and prevent the skin from drying out.

In addition, wet wipes and cleaning pads (hereinafter collectively referred to as pads) for facial and body cleansing, make-up removal or other cosmetic treatment have long been known. The carrier material of the pad is usually a textile material which is loaded with an impregnating liquid. The vast majority of these products are moist and are offered in essentially airtight packaging to prevent the wet pads from drying out.

For these moist products, it is necessary, for reasons of durability, to add preservatives to the impregnating solution. The large surface of the textile material, together with the impregnation solution is an ideal breeding ground for the multiplication of microorganisms. Also, one is limited in terms of the type of packaging for such wet pads in that these products must not dry out during their life and as much as possible must be airtight packed and repackaged.

A possible alternative to these moist pads are essentially dry pads. Corresponding applications which disclose substantially dry cleaning pads are previously known; WO 98/52538 called. These prior art pads are substantially dry, contain various cleansing and / or conditioning agents and are activated by water prior to use.

A disadvantage of the prior art pads is that the wetting of the substrate (substrate) with a watering solution during the preparation is not always uniform, that the dried pads are wetted only moderately well with water in the later application and that the pads for easy handling both have poor strength and / or rigidity during manufacture as well as subsequent removal by the consumer.

The object of the invention is to provide a pad that does not have the disadvantages mentioned.

Accordingly, it is an object of the invention to provide a pad which has increased dry strength in the dry state for ease of manufacture and ease of removal and consumer application.

It is also an object of the invention to provide a pad that comes as far as possible without preservatives in the trade.

In addition, it is an object of the invention to provide a cleaning pad available that can easily be wetted with water in the dry state, remains dimensionally stable in the wet state and does not curl or deform during use by the consumer.

It is also an object of the invention to provide a pad which can be quickly foamed with water, forms a stable foam and releases the active substances reliably and in sufficient quantity.

A further object of the invention is to provide a suitable impregnation solution for the production of a pad according to the invention. The impregnation solution should be suitable for wetting the carrier material as uniformly as possible. Furthermore, an impregnation solution is to be provided which is suitable for the production of the widest possible range of pads for various applications by the addition of different further substances.

A further object of the invention is to provide a pad which has two differently structured or differently configured sides or surfaces, for example a soft or smooth surface for cleaning the skin and a firmer or more abrasive (rougher) surface for the removal of has dead skin cells.

This object is achieved by an invention having the features of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments are the subject matter of the dependent claims. It should be noted that the features listed individually in the claims can also be combined with one another in any desired and technologically sensible manner and thus show further embodiments of the invention.

The cleaning pad according to the invention is essentially dry, the residual moisture content being determined by the atmospheric moisture and the storage and being less than 5%, preferably less than 1%. These percentages are by weight based on the dry mass of the pad.

The cleaning pad according to the invention comprises a water-insoluble carrier material (substrate) in the form of a nonwoven material. The person skilled in the art is familiar with suitable materials for such pads.

In a particularly preferred embodiment, the substrate comprises a single-layer hydrophilic, water-insoluble non-woven material with polyester, wherein the polyester content is preferably 60% to 100% and in particular 100%. The fibers of the nonwoven fabric are randomized. The monolayer nonwoven has two different sides in the haptic, in particular a substantially smooth (soft) side and an abrasive (rough) side.

The preferred non-woven material is characterized by an open structure and a corresponding liquid absorption capacity. One possible material for use with a pad according to the invention are materials for so-called acquisition distribution layer (ADL). Such materials are used, for example, in diapers and other personal care products as a backsheet to optimize the distribution of liquids.

In a preferred embodiment, the nonwoven material used essentially meets the following specifications:

It has surprisingly been found that this combination leads both to improved rigidity - for optimal processing in the production of the pads and the subsequent removal and application by the consumer - as well as both improved wettability of the substrate with the impregnation solution and the Dry pads with water leads. Both effects can be attributed to the film - forming properties of the Recycled acrylate polymers and / or acrylate copolymers. Due to the film-forming properties, the impregnation solution is brought evenly into the substrate in the manufacturing process and forms a largely uniform film during the subsequent drying process. The film formed by the acrylate polymer and / or acrylate copolymer after drying protects and preserves the introduced further substances. When using the pad, the film formed by the acrylate polymer and / or acrylate copolymer provides rapid water wetting. The pad of the invention quickly forms a foam during application and releases the ingredients.

In a preferred embodiment, the proportion of the acrylate polymer and / or of the acrylate copolymer is between 10 and 70%, in particular between 20 and 60%, and the proportion of the alkyl benzoates between 0.5 and 15%, in particular between 4 and 12%. Preferred acrylate copolymers are ammonium acrylate copolymers. The percentages are by weight and are based on the dry weight of the impregnation solution. Preferred acrylate polymers are sodium polymethacrylates. The proportion of the acrylate polymer and / or acrylate copolymer used is crucial for the subsequent rigidity or strength of the pad. Preferred substances as alkyl benzoates are, for example, C12-15 alkyl benzoates. The person skilled in the art is familiar with further alkyl benzoates which can be used in a pad according to the invention.

The combination of acrylate polymers and / or acrylate copolymers and alkyl benzoate according to the invention advantageously also reduces the feel of the dry pad, which is perceived as greasy, which can arise, for example, through the use of fatty alkanol surfactants.

In addition to the film-forming acrylate polymers and / or acrylate copolymers and the foam-forming alkyl benzoates in a preferred embodiment, the impregnation solution further comprises various surfactants and co-surfactants for foam stabilization.

Anion surfactants such as fatty alcohol sulfates, sarcosinates and / or isethionates are preferred for a pad according to the invention. The choice will select the expert in any case according to the intended use of the pad. The impregnation solution may contain other additives, for example oils, fats, fragrances, perfume oils, glycols, dyes, organic acid, enzymes, alkaloids (for example caffeine). Other additives can be selected according to the intended use by the skilled person in an obvious way.

For example, the impregnation solution may contain preservatives to render the solution itself useful for longer than bulk storage prior to drying. The impregnation solution may then preferably contain preservative boosters (for example glycols) as adjuvant. Preferably, the residual content of glycol in the dried pad is less than 0.6% by weight with respect to the dry weight of the impregnating solution.

The impregnation solution may also contain fruit acids and / or alpha hydroxy acids such as lactic acid, glycolic acid, tartaric acid, etc. Such fabrics can assist the desired mechanical peeling effect of the substrate in a preferred embodiment.
