Description
The invention relates to a high-voltage system for a vehicle with an electrified powertrain, wherein the high-voltage system comprises a secondary high-voltage battery, and a method for operating such a high-voltage system.
It is an object of the invention to provide an improved high voltage system for an electrified powertrain vehicle, wherein the high voltage system comprises a secondary high voltage battery, and an improved method of operating such a high voltage system.
This object is achieved by a high-voltage system according to claim 1 and a method according to
According to the invention, the high-voltage battery comprises at least two parallel-connectable high-voltage strands, and the high-voltage system comprises an associated charging interface for each of the parallel-connectable high-voltage strands for electrically charging the high-voltage battery to an external direct current source.
Two switchable parallel high-voltage strings means that the high-voltage battery has two strings of the same or comparable rated voltage, which can be electrically connected in parallel. Each of the high-voltage strands is itself constructed from a series and possibly additional parallel connection of individual battery modules, which in turn preferably contain lithium-ion cells connected in series. Ideally, the two strands have comparable electrical characteristics, i. Rated voltage, current capacity and rated capacity.
Each of the high-voltage strands is assigned its own charging interface, so that each of the high-voltage strands can be supplied with electrical power independently of the further strands with direct current via the respective interface. The number of charging interfaces thus corresponds to the number of parallel switchable high-voltage strands and is at least two.
In this way, the charging time of the entire high-voltage battery when charging to a DC power source can be shortened. As a first approximation, with two charging interfaces and two high-voltage strings having the same electrical parameters, i. halving the battery into two high-voltage strings, halves the charging time of the entire high-voltage battery, since each of the two strings can be charged with the electrical power at an external DC source. About such a charging interface, the entire high-voltage battery is charged according to the prior art.
According to a further variant of the invention, the high-voltage system comprises a switchable switching unit which, in an open state, electrically isolates the high-voltage strands from one another and electrically interconnects the high-voltage strands in a closed state.
In the open state, therefore, all high-voltage strands are galvanically isolated from each other. When closed, all high-voltage strings are galvanically connected to each other.
According to one embodiment of the invention, a charging connection with an external charging unit of an external DC power source can be produced at each of the at least two charging interfaces, wherein when the charging connection is established at each of the charging interfaces, the switchable switching unit can be switched into the open state.
This means that each of the charging interfaces is set up to make a charging connection to an external charging unit in order to obtain electrical power as direct current or DC voltage via an external power source, eg a public power grid. The charging interface can be a vehicle-side charging socket according to the prior art, which can be connected to a vehicle-external connector according to the prior art for charging. It can also be standardized plug-in systems act, which allow detection of the production of the charging connection, eg by means of powerline communication. In particular, the high-voltage system is set up to detect a manufactured charging connection at each of the charging interfaces and to switch the switching unit to the open state at each of the charging interfaces when the charging connection has been established. Then the high-voltage strands are galvanically isolated and for each high-voltage string, a charging connection is made at the associated charging interface.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, when the charging connection is interrupted at one of the charging interfaces, the switchable switching unit can be switched to the closed state.
According to this embodiment, there is a galvanic connection of the high-voltage strands, if no charge connection is made at one of the charging interfaces. In other words, each high-voltage string can only be charged via the charging interface assigned to it if a charging connection has been established at each of the charging interfaces. For switching the switching unit in the closed state and in the open state, the high-voltage system may comprise a control unit, via which the switching unit is controllable. The control unit may be adapted to detect the establishment of a charging connection at the charging interfaces, e.g. via a connection to a respective powerline communication between the respective charging socket and a vehicle-external charging plug.
- Holding the switching unit in the closed state in a driving operation of the vehicle,
- Holding the switching unit in the closed state in a charging operation of the vehicle when one of the assigned charging interfaces has an interrupted charging connection,
- Switching the switching unit to the open state in a rapid charging operation of the vehicle, when all of the associated charging interfaces have a charging connection, and
- - Switching the switching unit in the closed state of the vehicle, as soon as one of the associated charging interfaces has an interrupted charging connection.
In the method, therefore, the opened state of the switching unit is produced only when a charging connection is made at all charging interfaces. Then the high-voltage strings can be charged galvanically separated from each other, each high-voltage string is loaded via the associated charge interface. Once a charging connection is interrupted, i. If there is no charging connection at one of the charging interfaces, the high-voltage strands are again electrically connected in parallel via the switching unit. The high-voltage battery is then charged as a total storage and not in individual strands. This has the advantage that this ensures that the switching unit only switches at times at which the high-voltage strands have comparable charging states. Galvanically isolated high-voltage lines with different states of charge hard to connect in parallel, can lead to undesirable high compensation currents during the switching process. The high-voltage trains are interconnected in particular when the vehicle is in a driving operation. Also in a loading mode, i. when the high-voltage battery is charged, it is assumed that the closed switching state. The high-voltage strands are only galvanically isolated when the charging operation is designed such that all charging interfaces have a manufactured charging connection. This charging operation can also be referred to as fast charging operation.
The method can be supplemented by the fact that the high-voltage strands are connected in parallel when switching over a predefinable state of charge difference even when the charging connection is established at all charging interfaces. This is due to the fact that individual high-voltage strands may be defective due to aging of the cell, or the charging over the various charging interfaces is uneven and undesirable high state of charge differences occur during charging over the high-voltage strands.
The invention is based on the following considerations:
Current electric vehicles such as plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) or pure electric vehicles (battery electric vehicle, BEV) according to the prior art have charging options with AC (so-called AC charging) in power ranges 3.7 kW, 7 kW and 11 kW. Charging with direct current (so-called DC charging) is available in the power ranges 20 kW, 50 kW and in fast charging modes up to 135 kW. The energetic battery capacities are usually in the range of 20-30 kWh, at energy-optimized vehicles in individual cases up to 90 kWh. The future development of battery capacity for next-generation BEV is expected to shift the energy window to at least 70-80 kWh. It can be assumed that a maximum charging power for fast charging up to approximately 350 kW can be realized. This results in a limitation of the charging time due to the energy capacity of the batteries and the available charging power. The maximum charging power is limited by the receptive maximum current and the maximum voltage that can be applied to the vehicle battery.
The disadvantage of this is that a 70 kWh memory with a charging power of 350 kW can be fully charged in a minimum of about 15 minutes. The conventional refueling of vehicles with pure combustion engine drive takes about 5 minutes, i. despite fast loading this only takes a third of the loading time of a BEV. This charging time could be perceived by users of vehicles with electrified powertrain compared to the refueling of internal combustion engine vehicles to be too slow and thus a barrier to use.
It is therefore proposed to reduce the charging time in a vehicle with an electrified powertrain through the use of at least two DC charging plugs. Such a vehicle can be charged simultaneously to at least two charging stations. By using two charging plugs, the charging time is halved. When using multiple charging plugs, the charging time is reduced proportionally. A prerequisite for the possibility of using at least two charging plugs is that the vehicle battery has parallel, switchable battery branches in the same way as the number of plugs. The parallel branches of the battery should be galvanically separated into two branches when charging with at least two charging plugs. This galvanic isolation is done by a switch, which are activated during the charging process. Thus, with each charging plug applied to the vehicle, a parallel battery string is charged independently of the other battery branches. The result for a 70 kWh storage with a charging power of 350 kW per strand thus a charging time of 7 minutes per strand and thus for the entire memory.
The limitation of the charging power, i. maximum charging voltage and maximum charging current, and thus the minimum possible charging time is relatively reduced by the use of at least two charging plugs and switches between the parallel battery branches. The charging power can thus be at least doubled and the charging time at least halved. The inventive approach relates to the use of at least two charging plugs, as well as the galvanic isolation of the parallel battery branches for use of at least two charging plugs. Using the example of the charging power 50 kW with a charging voltage of approximately 400 V at a maximum current of 125 A up to a charging voltage of approximately 800 V at a maximum current of 62.5 A, it is possible to increase the charging power per vehicle to 100 kW double and thus halve the loading time. With a storage of 20 kWh this would reduce the charging time from about 30 minutes to 15 minutes. The greater the capacity of future batteries, the more advantageous it is to have them multi-stranded, i. with parallel battery branches. It is particularly clever to load these strands in parallel.
