Description
The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a rubidium- and lithium-containing aqueous digestion solution of rubidium- and lithium-containing minerals by direct carbonation with CO 2 with the addition of carbonates.
In order to obtain lithium carbonate from fluorine-containing minerals such as tin forestite or lepidolite, the classical acid-based processes (analogous to the spodumene process) are not readily transferable, since fluorine contained in tin forestite or lepidolite is liberated when sulfuric acid is added. The resulting hydrofluoric acid is a significant process engineering problem because it has an extremely corrosive effect on the one hand and a high health risk on the other hand. Disadvantageously, therefore, special, very cost-intensive protective measures must be taken in these methods in order to protect the apparatus-technical equipment and the people involved in the process.

The lithium carbonate formed is then present as a suspended, contaminated solid. For purification, it is reacted by means of CO 2 under pressure in an autoclave to lithium hydrogen carbonate in aqueous solution. It is then precipitated again as lithium carbonate. The recovery rate for the lithium carbonate, however, is only 70%. Disadvantageously, decomposition solutions of lower lithium minerals would also have to be concentrated prior to carbonation in this process.
The present invention has for its object to provide an effective digestion of crushed rubidium and lithium-containing minerals to obtain a LiHCO 3 - and RbHCO 3 -containing aqueous solution.
- a) tempering the minerals at 700 to 1500 ° C in the oxygen-containing gas stream,
- b) crushing the tempered minerals to a particle size <100 μm,
- c) digestion of the comminuted annealed minerals in an aqueous suspension containing the comminuted, tempered minerals and alkali metal carbonate, under pressure with CO 2 and conversion to lithium carbonate and rubidium carbonate or the respective bicarbonates,
- d) separation of the aqueous solution containing the lithium hydrogencarbonate and rubidium carbonate or the respective bicarbonates,
The lithium and rubidium-containing minerals are preferably selected from lepidolite and tin forestite.
Preferably, the minerals are comminuted before annealing.
According to the invention, a thermal pretreatment (tempering) of the comminuted minerals containing lithium and rubidium takes place, the lithium-containing mineral phases of spodumene, lepidolite and tin forestite being converted into β-spodumene (LiAl [Si 2 O 6 ]).
The use of lepidolite in addition to β-spodumene also resulted in the mineral phases quartz (SiO 2 ) and aluminum oxide (Al 2 O 3 ) as well as in tin forestite quartz and the iron-containing mineral phases magnetite (Fe 2+ (Fe 3+ ) 2 O 4 ) and hematite (Fe 2 O 3 ).
The minerals comminuted to a particle size of 0.1 to 20000 μm, preferably 2 to 1000 μm, more preferably 5 to 100 μm are used according to the invention at temperatures of 700 to 1500 ° C, preferably 900 to 1300 ° C, particularly preferably 950 to 1100 ° C annealed in the oxygen-containing gas stream, air and / or oxygen stream. The person skilled in the art, the applicable furnace types, such as the tube furnace, rotary kiln, induction furnace, muffle furnace or continuous furnace known. Preferably, a rotary kiln or tube furnace is used.
The residence time of the mineral in the furnace depends on the type of furnace used, the temperature and the grain size of the material used and is generally less than 24 h, preferably <5 h, particularly preferably <2 h.
Glasierung neigt. For the subsequent carbonation, starting material with a high surface area and consequently a small particle size is required. According to the invention, the tempered minerals a particle size <1000 microns, preferably <100 microns, more preferably <10 microns comminuted. The comminution is also required because the annealed material tends to sinter or glaze.
The person skilled in the art, the usable crusher (primary gyratory crushers, jaw crushers, horizontal impact crushers, etc.) and grinding types for comminuting the untempered and tempered material well known (impact and impact mills).
In the next step, an aqueous suspension of the comminuted, tempered minerals, alkali metal carbonate and water is preferably prepared.
Bevorzugt beträgt das Gewichtsverhältnis von Mineralien zu Wasser 1:1 bis 1:100, bevorzugt 1:10 bis 1:50, ganz besonders bevorzugt 1:10 bis 1:30.Preferably, the weight ratio of minerals to water is 1: 1 to 1: 100, preferably 1:10 to 1:50, most preferably 1:10 to 1:30.

According to the invention, the aqueous suspension prepared from the comminuted, tempered minerals and water is therefore added with alkali metal carbonate. According to the invention, the alkali metal carbonate is selected from sodium carbonate and / or potassium carbonate and / or a mixture thereof.
Surprisingly, it has been found that the addition of sodium carbonate (Na 2 CO 3 ) as a pure substance to the aqueous suspension of comminuted, tempered minerals in water, the conversion of rubidium into highly water-soluble rubidium carbonate (Rb 2 CO 3 ) or rubidium bicarbonate (RbHCO 3 ) strongly favored.
In a preferred embodiment, sodium carbonate is added to the aqueous suspension of the comminuted, tempered minerals in water.
Even more unexpected was that potassium carbonate (K 2 CO 3 ) is even better than Na 2 CO 3 . In a further preferred embodiment, potassium carbonate is added to the aqueous suspension of the comminuted, tempered minerals in water.
Quite surprisingly, a mixture of the two salts gave the best results in terms of high lithium and rubidium application.
In a preferred embodiment, a mixture of sodium carbonate and potassium carbonate is added to the aqueous suspension of the comminuted, tempered minerals in water.
Bevorzugt beträgt das Gewichtsverhältnis von zerkleinerten getemperten Mineralien zu Alkalicarbonat 0,05:1 bis 2:1, besonders bevorzugt 0,2:1 bis 0,5:1.Preferably, the weight ratio of comminuted tempered minerals to alkali carbonate is 0.05: 1 to 2: 1, more preferably 0.2: 1 to 0.5: 1.
In the mixture of sodium carbonate and potassium carbonate, the weight ratio of sodium carbonate to potassium carbonate is preferably 0.1: 1 to 10: 1, particularly preferably 0.5: 1 to 1.5: 1.
For a high Rb output K 2 CO 3 is preferably used. Advantageously, by the addition of Na 2 CO 3 also the Li-application favors.
-hydrogencarbonat. According to the invention, the digestion of the comminuted, tempered minerals with alkali carbonate in the aqueous suspension under pressure with CO 2 and the reaction to lithium bicarbonate and rubidium carbonate or bicarbonate.
-hydrogencarbonatAccording to the invention, the crushed, tempered minerals are digested in an aqueous suspension containing the comminuted, tempered minerals and alkali metal carbonate, under pressure with CO 2 and converted to lithium hydrogencarbonate and rubidium carbonate or bicarbonate
According to the invention, the CO 2 pressure is in the range of 1 to 1000 bar, preferably 10 to 200 bar, more preferably 50 to 150 bar.
Bevorzugt beträgt die Aufschlusstemperatur 10 bis 400 °C, bevorzugt 100 bis 350 °C, besonders bevorzugt 200 bis 280 °CPreferably, the aqueous suspension of crushed tempered minerals and alkali carbonate in water during the digestion under CO 2 pressure is heated. Preferably, the digestion temperature is 10 to 400 ° C, preferably 100 to 350 ° C, more preferably 200 to 280 ° C.
Significantly low digestion rates are achieved in the case of a sole carbonation by the salts without additional CO 2, in particular for rubidium but also for lithium.
Advantageously, with the process according to the invention high decomposition rates of Rb and Li are achieved, as a rule,> 50%, preferably> 70% and particularly preferably> 80%:
The duration of the digestion is preferably <24 h, particularly preferably <12 h, very particularly preferably <3 h.
In order to obtain a lithium or rubidium bicarbonate solution, after the reaction time has ended, first the heat is switched off and the internal temperature is adjusted to 10 to 40 ° C., preferably 20 to 30 ° C., and CO 2 is discharged only after that, which advantageously results in renewed carbonation can be added.
Pressure vessels and stirrers consist of industrially available materials, preferably high-grade stainless steels. For the suspension, stirrer types known to those skilled in the art are used in the autoclave.
Following the CO 2 digestion, a solid-liquid separation is carried out to separate off the leaching residue by means of filtration, sedimentation in the decanter or centrifugation. In the case of filtration, in principle any type of filter can be used, in particular a band filter, which preferably has a filter band with a pore width between 1... 100 μm.
Rubidium and also lithium can be recovered from the lithium and rubidium bicarbonate containing solution by various methods known to those skilled in the art.
From the rubidium-containing mother liquor is precipitated using known methods, preferably by the alum method, RbAl (SO 4 ) 2 · 12H 2 O and separated by fractional crystallization of KAl (SO 4 ) 2 · 12H 2 O.
Die weitere Aufarbeitung kann bevorzugt nach der
