Abstract

Description

The present invention relates to a piece of furniture or a household appliance with a furniture or household appliance body and a door which are pivotably connected to one another via at least one multi-joint hinge according to the preamble of claim 1 and a multi-joint hinge according to the preamble of claim 7.

A generic piece of furniture or household appliance, for example in the form of a refrigerator such as a refrigerator or a built-in refrigerator, which is surrounded by a furniture body and a furniture door coupled to a refrigerator door, in which a furniture or household appliance body and a door are pivotally connected to one another via usually two multi-joint hinges are, for example, from the DE 20 2007 004 621 U1 or the US 2014/0 210 328 A1 known.

The problem with large-format refrigerators, which have correspondingly large and heavy doors, or with furniture whose furniture body is pivotably connected to a heavy glass or mirror door, is that the coupling of the door to the body via a single hinge or two hinges due to the large loads insufficient or would lead to fatigue of the hinge and the suspension of the hinge on the door and on the body of the furniture or household appliance.

Such fatigue would lead in particular to the door being lowered or the door penetrating when the door was closed.

Another problem is that the coupling of such doors to the furniture or household appliance body via an additional hinge that would be attached between the upper and lower hinge that is usually present, due to door seals in refrigerators or due to load distribution and material properties, stresses in the material in the case of glass - or mirror doors, cannot be used to carry the large load.

The object of the present invention is to provide a piece of furniture or a household appliance and a multi-joint hinge that makes it possible to reliably carry even higher loads via a multi-joint hinge in a simple manner.

This object is achieved by a piece of furniture or household appliance with a furniture or household appliance body and a door with the features of claim 1 and by a multi-joint hinge with the features of claim 7.

The piece of furniture or household appliance according to the invention has a furniture or household appliance body and a door, which are pivotally connected to one another via at least one multi-joint hinge and in which the multi-joint hinge has a first and second mounting plate for direct or indirect attachment of the multi-joint hinge on the one hand to the furniture or household appliance body and on the other hand allowed at the door.

The two mounting plates are connected to one another via a hinge part with a number of articulated levers connected to one another. A first articulated lever is connected to the first mounting plate and a second articulated lever is connected to the second mounting plate.

At least one second hinge part is attached to the first mounting plate with a plurality of articulated levers connected to one another, with a first articulated lever of the second hinge part being connected to the first mounting plate and a second articulated lever of the second hinge part being connected to a second mounting plate, and the second mounting plates being directly or indirectly attached to the Furniture or household appliance body or the door are attached.

By connecting the door to the furniture or household appliance body via such a multi-joint hinge, it is possible to significantly increase the load-carrying capacity, specifically at the originally intended mounting positions for the multi-joint hinge, i.e. known from the prior art.

A further advantage consists in the simplified assembly of such a multi-joint hinge equipped with a plurality of hinge parts, in that only one mounting plate has to be mounted at least on one mounting side.

Advantageous design variants of the piece of furniture or household appliance according to the invention are specified in the dependent claims.

According to an advantageous embodiment variant, at least one of the hinge parts has a damping element that dampens a closing movement and/or opening movement of the door.

According to a further embodiment variant, all hinge parts of the multi-joint hinge have a damping element that dampens a closing movement and/or opening movement of the door, as a result of which the damping capacity is correspondingly increased.

In a special embodiment, the damping element is coupled to the articulated levers in such a way that the damping element is designed to be switched on temporarily.

According to one aspect, this enables the damping effect to be activated from a certain opening or closing angle.

A second aspect of such a temporary connection of the damping element or damping elements is to activate only one of the damping elements of the multi-joint hinge, depending on the requirement, so that, for example, with medium-heavy doors, only one damping element of the two or more hinge elements of the multi-joint hinge is activated, whereas with very heavy doors both or all dampers of the hinge parts of the multi-joint hinge are activated.

According to a further preferred embodiment variant, the second mounting plates of the multi-joint hinge are designed in one piece. Such a design enables an even more simplified assembly of the multi-joint hinge on the furniture body or household appliance body and the door.

According to a further preferred embodiment variant, a first multi-joint hinge connecting the furniture or household appliance body to the door is equipped with at least two hinge parts and a further multi-joint hinge connecting the furniture or household appliance body to the door is designed with only one hinge part.

As a result, depending on the space available for mounting the multi-joint hinges, the multi-joint hinge with two or more hinge parts can be installed at a suitable location and a multi-joint hinge with only one hinge part can be installed at a second installation location with less space for mounting the multi-joint hinge.

The multi-joint hinge according to the invention has a first mounting plate that can be fixed directly or indirectly to a furniture body or household appliance body or a door, which is connected to a second mounting plate that can be fixed directly or indirectly to a door or a furniture or household appliance body via several articulated levers connected to one another to form a hinge part . The first mounting plate and the second mounting plate are connected to one another via at least two hinge parts. Such a design enables an even more simplified assembly of the multi-joint hinge on the furniture body or household appliance body and the door.

According to a preferred embodiment, at least one of the hinge parts 7, 8 has a damping element 11 that dampens a closing and/or opening movement of the door 3, 42.

The damping element 11 is in the 8th and 9 designed as a linear damper, for example, which linearly dampens a closing movement of the door 3 . Provision is particularly preferably made for all hinge parts 7, 8 to be provided with such a damping element 11 in order to be able to sufficiently dampen heavy doors such as glass or mirror doors or refrigerator doors 42 of very large refrigerators 4 coupled via the multi-joint hinge 5.

Such an activation or deactivation can take place, for example, in that a latching receptacle is provided on a housing of the damping element 11, on which a switching element can be fixed. In the longitudinal direction of a piston rod of the cushioning member 11 and the housing of the cushioning member 11, two are parallel arranged webs formed between which the switching element is slidably guided. In the inactive position, when the hinge part pivots, the damping element 11 is displaced with its housing via a deflection element. It is also conceivable to equip a multi-joint hinge 5 with more than two hinge parts 7, 8. For example, it is conceivable to equip a multi-joint hinge 5 with three, four or five hinge parts 7, 8 in order to be able to cope with the corresponding loads and damping requirements.
