Description
The invention relates to a method and a device for navigating a pedestrian.
Navigation systems are already widely used in the automotive environment today. For pedestrians, however, relatively few systems are known. Although in complex mobile devices with Internet connection (so-called smartphones) is often the ability to load map data and to perform a navigation from a starting point to a destination point by means of a GPS sensor located in the mobile device. However, the available maps are often very detailed and therefore relatively complicated for pedestrians to handle.

The contents of the above publications are hereby incorporated by reference into the present specification.
It is an object of the invention to allow pedestrians the simplest possible navigation.
This object is achieved by the invention specified in the independent claims. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are indicated in the dependent claims.
According to the invention, navigation of a pedestrian by means of a navigation system to a navigation destination is provided, in that the navigation system comprises a display unit and is carried along by the pedestrian, in particular on the body. In this case, intersections, to which the pedestrian moves, are displayed on the display unit in a simplified and symbolized form. Furthermore, at least one display element will become a distinctive object in the current environment in which the pedestrian is located, together with an indication of the object and / or the navigation direction to be taken on the display unit during a movement maneuver at an intersection.
The reference to the striking object may in particular comprise a text. The indication of the direction of navigation may include an arrow.
The invention is based on the recognition that it is advantageous for a corresponding navigation system to provide a display of navigation instructions that is specially adapted to the needs of pedestrians. The invention is based, in particular, on the recognition that pedestrians, when navigating, preferentially orient themselves at other features or points along the navigation route than motorists. With the invention can be used to advantage that pedestrians regularly better oriented to objects along the navigation route than to distance information compared to motorists. Furthermore, the invention can exploit the fact that a pedestrian in relation to a motorist can use more attention or a longer time to read a text hint or to look at a symbol. For example, for a pedestrian, the navigation instruction "Turn right at the next traffic light" can be better evaluated than the navigation instruction "Turn right at 50 meters". In contrast, in a navigation system for a motorist is usually only a directional arrow to the right and a meter specification such. B. "50 meters" shown. In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, nevertheless, a distance indication for the route from the current location of the pedestrian to the intersection on the display unit can still be displayed.
In a further advantageous exemplary embodiment of the invention, a distinction is made between classes for an outdoor navigation class in which navigation takes place outdoors and an indoor navigation class in which the navigation takes place in a building. As a result, in particular the pedestrian-specific problem can be taken into account that its orientation behavior in a building differs greatly from its orientation behavior outdoors. While in the orientation outdoors, prominent objects are in the foreground, for example large buildings such as churches or bridges, in buildings they are mostly signs, for example names attached to commercial areas. In the context of the invention it has been found that in particular infrastructure facilities both outdoors and within buildings for pedestrians good orientation or navigation aids as distinctive Objects are, for example, outdoor bus stops or in buildings escalators. With regard to the striking objects, when the outdoor navigation class is assigned, in particular display elements for at least landscape points, structures and / or infrastructure facilities can be used. When allocating the indoor navigation class, in particular display elements for at least infrastructure facilities, signs, signs and / or logos of shops, in particular respectively associated trademarks, can be advantageously used.
Wegestruktur darstellen. The invention has also recognized that in areas where typically only pedestrians are present, such. B. passages in shopping centers, only relatively difficult to recognize road and path structures. Against this background, it is particularly advantageous to display in the display device of a navigation system orientation information that represents no or only a few and / or only symbolized road or route structure.
- A watch located on a bracelet and / or
- - A processor-controlled device, in particular a mobile device such. As a smartphone that is connected via a wireless or wired data connection in particular with the clock, wherein
- - Each part of sensor tasks and / or control tasks and / or display tasks for the navigation in the clock and / or in the processor-controlled device are executed.
On the display unit may further display by means of arrows for a geographical direction, z. B. geographically north, and / or made for a direct direction to the navigation destination.
The display device may be located wholly or partly in an electronic unit, such as a smartwatch, worn on the body and, in particular, on the pedestrian's arm. It can also be in a microprocessor-controlled device, in particular in a mobile device such. As a smartphone, which is also carried in particular by the pedestrian, for example in a bag. With the invention is achieved in particular due to the reduced amount of displayed card details that even on correspondingly small display devices, the essential navigation instructions such as arrows, symbols and text are clearly visible to the user.
The body worn on the unit and the other entrained device can in particular contactless z. B. by means of a radio link according to the Bluetooth standard for a data transmission to each other. It can also be provided as an individual display device, for example in the form of an augmented reality device, which can be connected in terms of data with one or more of the units carried on the body or arm and / or by the pedestrian and, in particular, as glasses or head-up Display can be worn by pedestrians.
The pedestrian is guided in the course of navigating the navigation system in particular on a predetermined route from a starting point to a destination point. In particular, an acoustic and / or tactile indication can be output by the navigation system. Such an indication can in itself describe a movement maneuver and / or with such an indication, the pedestrian can be informed that an indication of a movement maneuver is issued on the display unit.
Es zeigen:In the following, further embodiments of the invention will be explained in more detail with reference to figures. Show it:

In the figures, various variants have been shown for representations of roads, paths, intersections, distinctive objects and navigation instructions in the form of symbols, text and / or arrows. Within the scope of the invention, individual such variants can each be used in combination with each other. In this case, a navigation system can also select a corresponding combination depending on the situation, corresponding situations being able to take place, for example, by sensory acquisition of parameters and / or by retrieving data from a database and, in particular, from the map data underlying the navigation. For example, it can be provided to always represent crossing situations when an outdoor navigation is detected and to always display symbols of distinctive objects when an indoor navigation is detected. Another way of distinguishing situations is, for example, the complexity of the intersection situation. For simple situations, for example, the classic arrow view can be used, while in more complex situations a simplified representation with symbols for prominent objects rather takes place.
A number of navigation hinting options have been described. Another possibility, which can be combined in particular with the visual display, to provide the user with navigation instructions, is to output in each case an audible or tactile indication in the navigation system, eg. B. by vibrating a clock or a smartwatch. Such instructions may alert the user to new maneuvering hints. In particular, such an indication can make the user aware that a new optical maneuver hint is currently displayed on the display unit. As a result, it can be advantageously achieved that the user does not have to continuously keep an eye on the display unit (display), but is informed by the navigation system at predetermined times, in particular relatively shortly before any pending or relevant maneuver instructions. Then a quick glance of the user on the display device (eg on the clock) and he knows in which direction he should continue to navigate. The control of the type of hint or hints and the sequence of hints can be decided depending on the environment context, user context and / or user settings. For example, it can be provided that at least one tactile indication is output in noisy environments.
The described methods and navigation system components can be used alone or in conjunction or in addition to other, in particular already known navigation system components of navigation devices such as a smartphone. Particularly in the case of a modular structure of the corresponding computer program modules, such connections or combinations can be implemented relatively simply via corresponding interfaces.
The described devices and system components are in particular controlled by computer programs and can be further known per se elements of computers and digital control devices such as a Microprocessor, volatile and non-volatile memory, interfaces, etc. have. Therefore, the invention can also be implemented in whole or in part in the form of a computer program product which, when loaded and executed on a computer, completely or partially effects a sequence according to the invention. It can be provided, for example, in the form of a data carrier such as a CD / DVD, or else in the form of one or more files on a server from which the computer program can be downloaded.
