Description
Die Erfindung betrifft einen Obturatorring (Dichtring) eines Artilleriegeschosses. The invention relates to an obturator ring (sealing ring) of an artillery projectile.
Artillery projectiles, which are fired with high loads from drawn pipes, have an additional sealing ring (obturator ring) made of thermoplastic material (eg polyamide) behind the guide band. This expands elastically on account of the pressure of the powder gases, thus sealing the gap between the projectile and the inner wall of the pipe, thus preventing gas slippage which leads to a reduction in the initial velocity and to increased pipe erosion. In the Bundeswehr only one-piece, undivided obturator rings are introduced. In order for these to be inserted into the radial groove behind the guide band, they must be elastically stretched so that their inner diameter, which corresponds to the diameter of the groove, is> = the outer diameter of the projectile. In order to allow this expansion non-destructive, the rings are conditioned in a water bath for several hours at high temperatures. During use, it has been shown that the obturator rings become brittle due to this conditioning and are already damaged or crumble when the bullet is applied. The resulting, free fragments of fracture lead to tube recoilers, which endanger the safety of operator and weapon. If missiles with damaged obturator rings are fired anyway, the aerodynamic characteristics of the projectile change, which leads to short shots and even legal raids.
Disadvantages of the known solutions are on the one hand the premature aging of the obturator due to the thermal treatment. On the other hand, the two- or multi-part rings sit relatively loosely in the groove, so that they can fall off during transport, storage in the gun, during handling and when preparing. Also, in a not completely synchronous detachment of the segments after the pipe passage undesirable aerodynamic effects occur.
Object of the present invention is therefore to provide an obturator, which is mountable and disassembled without heat treatment on the projectile and during flight has no effect on the external ballistics of the projectile.
This object is solved by the characterizing features of the main claim. Further advantageous embodiments are described in the subclaims.
The advantage of the invention is, in particular, that the obturator is integrally formed and has a joint by division in cross-section, abutting the two ends of the ring frontally. During assembly, it can be radially expanded without special tools and without special pretreatment and inserted into the groove of the projectile. The ring is then compressed until snaps form-locking or frictional elements and set it in position. After the passage of the tube, the ring remains on the projectile.
The Obturatorring can be made as previously made of thermoplastic materials. An execution in other, less ductile materials (eg Tombak, soft iron, other plastics) is also possible in principle. The shock is designed so that after the compression of the ends of the ring results in a frictional or positive connection.
An advantageous embodiment of the invention is described in
A further advantageous embodiment of the invention is described in
