Abstract

Seating/reclining furniture, in particular an armchair or chair, with a seat part (11), a back part (13) which is connected to the seat part (11) so as to be pivotable about a pivot axis (35) and whose inclination is adjustable with respect to the seat part (11), and a cantilever support structure supporting the seat part (11) and the back part (13) with at least one support bracket (15) which comprises a base section (17), a horizontal section (19) which runs at least approximately horizontally, and a joint section (21) which connects the base section (17) and the horizontal section (19) to one another and enables the horizontal section (19) to be pivoted relative to the base section (17), wherein the back part (13) is supported on the horizontal section (19) so as to be pivotable about a horizontal axis (23) and the seat part (11) is movably guided along the joint section (21), wherein a footrest (45) which can be pivoted in and out is also provided, which can be pivoted via a fitting (61) is coupled to the back part (13) or the seat part (11) in such a way that a change in the relative position of the back part (13) and the seat part (11) to one another causes the footrest (45) to pivot, and wherein the fitting (61) comprises at least one adjustment rod (61) or is formed by at least one adjustment rod (61), characterized in that the adjustment rod (61) is bent once or multiple times

Description

The present invention relates to a seating/reclining furniture according to the preamble of claim 1, as it essentially consists of the EP 1 943 926 A1 is known.

A piece of furniture of essentially the same type is available from EP 1 327 400 A2 Further state of the art is also evident from the DE 202 01 422 U1 .

It is the object of the invention to provide a seating/reclining furniture of the type mentioned at the beginning, which has improved seating/reclining comfort.

The problem is solved by the features of claim 1. According to the invention, a footrest that can be swung in and out or extended and retracted or folded in and out or folded together and unfolded is provided, wherein the footrest is coupled to the back part or the seat part via a fitting in such a way that a change in the relative position of the back part and the seat part to each other causes the footrest to swivel. The movement of the footrest, which is referred to here as "swinging in" and "swinging out", is to be understood in a very general sense and can in principle include any movement between a passive and an active position or configuration.

If the inclination of the back part hinged to the horizontal section is changed in the seating/reclining furniture according to the invention, the back part acts on the seat part, which is then moved relative to the support bracket and moves along a path predetermined by the forced guide along the joint section of the support bracket. The back part and the seat part therefore not only change their relative position to one another, but also their position relative to the support bracket. The change in the relative position is transmitted to the footrest via the fitting, so that ultimately there is a forced coupling between the back part or the seat part and the footrest. This creates a seating/reclining furniture with a footrest that can be adjusted in a simple and comfortable way without the user having to operate any separate operating elements.

Preferably, the coupling is selected such that a change in the inclination of the backrest to a flatter position causes the footrest to swing out and an adjustment of the inclination of the backrest to a steeper position causes the footrest to swing in.

According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the footrest in the swung-out state has a length that is greater than the clear height below the seat part. This ensures that the footrest in the swung-out state is large enough or far enough away from the seat surface that comfortable support is also guaranteed in the foot or lower leg area of the user, even though there may only be a relatively small clear height below the seat part.

When pivoted in, the footrest preferably extends backwards from the seat part, in particular diagonally downwards. This prevents the footrest from protruding into the footwell in an upright sitting position, in which the user's lower legs usually extend vertically downwards from the front edge of the seat part, and thus impairs seating comfort. This can also improve the appearance of the furniture if it is not desired that the footrest is visible from the front.

It has proven to be advantageous if the footrest is hinged to the seat part. This means that the footrest is always at a defined distance from the seat part, so that a consistently comfortable sitting or resting position is guaranteed regardless of the set inclination and therefore also regardless of the relative position of the seat part in relation to the cantilever support structure. Alternatively, however, the footrest can also be hinged to the cantilever support structure.

According to the invention, the fitting comprises at least one adjustment rod or is formed by at least one adjustment rod. With such an adjustment rod, the footrest can be coupled to the seat part or the back part in a structurally simple and at the same time visually unobtrusive manner. It is not absolutely necessary to cover the adjustment rod, for example by integrating it into the upholstery of the seating/reclining furniture or by additional panels. In this context, it is preferred if the fitting is formed by exactly one adjustment rod, preferably running centrally in terms of the width.

According to the invention, the adjustment rod is bent once or multiple times. In particular, the adjustment rod can be bent in an S-shape. This allows the adjustment rod to be adjusted so that it does not come into contact with the seat part or other structural elements of the seating/reclining furniture, regardless of the adjustment position of the footrest.

According to a further advantageous embodiment, the fitting is pivotally coupled to the back part.

Preferably, the fitting is hinged to the back part at a distance from the pivot axis between the seat and back part in the region of a free lower end section of the back part, wherein the fitting is preferably spaced downwards from the pivot axis.

It is preferred if the back part, the seat part, the foot part and the fitting together form a parallel link arrangement. In this configuration, the seat part and the fitting as well as the back part and the foot part run approximately parallel to one another.

According to a further advantageous embodiment, the footrest comprises at least one support arm and a foot part connected to the support arm in an articulated manner. The foot part has a support surface for the feet and/or the lower legs of the user and is preferably padded, although it is not excluded that the support arm is also additionally provided with a support surface.

Preferably, the support arm is hinged to the seat part so that it can pivot about a pivot axis. Alternatively, the support arm can also be hinged to the cantilever support structure. In this context, it is advantageous if the fitting is hinged to the support arm at a distance from the pivot axis. The fitting does not act directly on the foot part, but pivots the support arm supporting the foot part.

The footrest preferably comprises a first support arm hinged to the seat part, a second support arm hinged to the first support arm and a foot part hinged to the second support arm. This makes it possible to position the foot part in the swung-out position of the footrest at a distance from the seat part that is comfortable for the user. When swung in, the support arms and the foot part can be folded in so that the foot part now borders directly on the seat part. This makes it possible to keep the clearance below the seat part low and at the same time prevent the footrest from hitting the floor when swung in. The fitting is preferably hinged to the first support arm.

According to a further advantageous embodiment, the footrest comprises a gear device by means of which the second support arm is pivoted relative to the first support arm due to a relative movement between the seat part and the first support arm, and the foot part is pivoted relative to the second support arm due to a relative movement between the first and second support arms. The gear device can, for example, comprise an arrangement of chains and gears, a scissors and/or parallel link arrangement, a combination of both, or other suitable means. If the fitting is hinged to the first support arm, the first support arm is pivoted relative to the seat part when the fitting is actuated by changing the relative position of the back part and the seat part to one another. This relative movement is converted by the gear device into a relative movement of the second support arm relative to the first support arm, with the relative movement between the first and second support arms in turn being converted by the gear device into a relative movement of the foot part. As a result, the footrest is, so to speak, unfolded when it is pivoted out and folded up again when it is pivoted in.

The invention is explained below using an embodiment with reference to the drawings.

In the seating/reclining furniture according to the invention, of which 1 and 2 the upholstery is only partially shown, it is an armchair with an adjustable backrest 13, which is also referred to below as the backrest. The backrest 13 is connected to a seat part 11 in an articulated manner and can be pivoted about a pivot axis 35 relative to the seat part 11.

Furthermore, the backrest 13 is connected to a head part 29, also referred to as a neck support, which can be pivoted relative to the backrest 13, wherein the head part 29 is adjusted by means of an actuating rod 41, which is hinged at one end to the head part 29 and at its opposite end to the seat part 11. The head part 29 and the actuating rod 41 are not discussed in more detail below.

The seating/reclining furniture according to the invention further comprises a cantilever support structure which comprises two support brackets 15 arranged offset in parallel and each extending in a vertical plane, which are connected to a base part 39. The support brackets 15 are preferably made of wood, but can also be made of another material, for example a wood laminate, an additional metal reinforcement or exclusively of metal.

The support brackets 15 each have an approximately horizontally extending horizontal section 19, a horizontally running base section 17 connected to the base part 39 and an approximately S-shaped joint section 21 which connects the horizontal section 19 and the base section 17 to one another and merges into the base section 17 with a comparatively short, approximately vertically extending section 43.

The backrest 13 is supported by an intermediate region at the rear free ends of the horizontal sections 19 and can be pivoted there about a horizontal axis 23.

The seat part 11 is supported by a downwardly projecting guide section 37 on a positive guide region 27 of the joint section 21 that runs obliquely upwards, is slightly curved and has its concave side facing the horizontal section 19. The manner of the positive guidance of the seat part 11 or the guide sections 37 on the support brackets 15 can basically be carried out in any manner, for example by means of rolling or sliding elements.

The forced guide comprises guide rails integrated into the joint sections 21 and made in particular from metal, wherein the guide sections 37 of the seat part 11 are designed as sliding saddles that surround the guide rails and each allow a translational movement of the seat part 11 relative to the support bracket 15 only along the path specified by the guide rail. The seat part 11 can also be pivoted relative to the joint section 21 about a horizontal axis that runs in the area of the guide sections 37.

The inclination of the backrest 13 can be adjusted by locking at least one guide section 37 on the respective joint section 21, a lever-operated parking brake being provided for this purpose.

In the side view according to 1 and 2 the carrying handles 15, the backrest 13 and the seat part 11 each form a closed lateral articulated frame, the shape of which can be changed by adjusting the inclination of the backrest. In the position according to 1 With the backrest 13 in an upright position, this articulated frame has approximately the shape of a rectangle with an enclosed area 36, while in the position according to 2 with the backrest 13 pivoted downwards, the articulated frame has approximately the shape of a triangle, the triangular surface 36' according to 2 smaller than the rectangular area 36 according to 1 because the seat part 11 has moved upwards on the horizontal section 19.

This change in shape of the lateral articulated frames 36, 36' is caused by the inclination adjustment of the backrest 13, wherein this main effect can be superimposed by a secondary effect caused by the pivoting or swinging of the horizontal sections 19, leading to an additional change in shape of the articulated frames 36, 36' if corresponding forces act on the seating/reclining furniture.

The seating/reclining furniture according to the invention further comprises a footrest 45 provided on the seat part that can be pivoted in and out. The footrest 45 has a first support arm 47 which is pivotally connected to the front of the seat part 11 about a pivot axis 49.

A second support arm 51 of the footrest 45 is pivotally connected to the first support arm 47 about a pivot axis 53 spaced from the pivot axis 49.

A foot part 55 of the footrest 45 having a support surface 59 is pivotally connected to the second support arm 51 about a pivot axis 57 spaced from the pivot axis 53.

As a comparison of the 1 and 2 shows, the footrest 45 is in the swivelled-in position ( 1 ) is folded up and is located almost completely underneath the seat part 11, with the support arms 47, 51 and the foot part 55 pointing with their main extension direction obliquely downwards and backwards towards the base part 39. In the swung-out state, the footrest 45 ( 2 ) in an approximately stretched configuration, with the foot part 55 being approximately at the same height as the seat part 11, but spaced therefrom, and the support surface 59 pointing upwards.

While the folded or retracted configuration of the footrest 45 according to 1 in the swivelled-in state and with the backrest 13 upright, the regular upright sitting position of the user, in which the user's feet are usually near the base part or on the floor, is not hindered, in the stretched configuration of 2 with the backrest 13 inclined, a comfortable support which is almost in a horizontal position feet or lower legs of the user. Since the footrest 45 is stretched, the foot part 55 is at a sufficiently large distance from the front edge of the seat part 11.

To adjust the footrest 45, a fitting in the form of an S-shaped adjustment rod 61 is provided, which is arranged centrally between the support brackets 15 and is hinged at one end so as to be rotatable about a pivot axis 63 to a free end section 25 of the backrest 13 extending below the seat part 11 and at its other end so as to be rotatable about a pivot axis 65 to the first support arm 47, wherein the pivot axis 65 of the adjustment rod 61 is spaced apart from both the pivot axis 49 and the pivot axis 53.

The seat part 11, the backrest 13, the adjustment rod 61 and the first support arm 47 thus form a type of parallel link arrangement, the articulation points of which are formed by the pivot axes 35, 49, 63 and 65.

A comparison of the 1 and 2 shows that when the backrest 13 is tilted backwards, the relative position between the seat part 11 and the backrest 13 changes in such a way that the pivot axis 63 is displaced forwards relative to the pivot axis 35. Due to the coupling via the adjusting rod 61, the displacement movement is transferred to the pivot axis 65 of the adjusting rod 61, so that the first support arm 47 is rotated clockwise around the pivot axis 49 into the 2 shown swiveled-out position.

The footrest 45 comprises a gear device (not shown) by which the second support arm 51 can be moved between the folded configuration ( 1 ) and the stretched configuration ( 2 ) is adjusted. The gear device also causes the foot part 55 to be adjusted between the folded configuration ( 1 ) and the unfolded or stretched configuration ( 2 ). The gear device can comprise, for example, gears or segment gears which are provided in the region of the pivot axes 49, 53 and 57 and are coupled in a suitable manner to the seat part 11, the first and second support arms 47, 51 and the foot part 55 and to one another directly or indirectly via further intermediate gears and/or drive chains.
