Abstract
Description
This invention relates to a roof protection agent for protection against fouling, which is adapted for attachment to an outside of a roof. Furthermore, this invention relates to a roof with a roofing agent according to the invention and the use of a roofing agent according to the invention.
Roofs are dirt from dust and plant components such as leaves, petals, branches, fruits, etc. z. B. of trees and impurities such as bird droppings suspended. Such soils, in conjunction with the rain, can become a growth base for low plant growth, such as lichen or mosses. Such a vegetation collects organic material and binds rainwater. The chemical stress on the underlying roof surface exposes it to increased wear. Rainwater is less well drained on the areas covered with more growth, which can lead to congestion and more water pressure in places above the vegetation. In the worst case, this can cause water to penetrate through the roof. If the fouling is not eliminated, more and more organic material accumulates, on which eventually higher plants such as grass, shrubs or trees can settle. These penetrate easily with their roots in many cases, the roof skin. Therefore, there is a motivation to keep the outer surface of a roof without fouling.
In the prior art, various roof protection means are known. For example, roof paints with substances toxic to plants are applied to the roof outer surface, the toxic effect of which prevents the growth of fouling. Conventional, mostly organic substances are used as toxic active ingredient. Such toxic substances can pollute the environment and could potentially be banned in the future. Another well-known roofing protection against fouling is the use of copper-containing roof elements. From this, copper ions are released from the copper by rain and go into solution by solvation. The copper ions are toxic to a variety of plant organisms, so that rainwater containing copper ions leads to the prevention of growth of the roof surface. In Europe, due to stricter environmental regulations, the content of acidifying agents such as SO 2 and NO 2 in the air, which lead to acid rain, is becoming increasingly smaller. Thus, the effectiveness of the roof protection of fouling by copper-containing roof elements decreases, since the less acidic rainwater less copper ions are released from the copper. In addition, less copper sulfate is formed by the low sulfuric acid content, on which a substantial part of the toxic effect of copper ion roofing agents is based. Copper sulfate is also classified as hazardous to water.
The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a roof protection agent which overcomes the aforementioned disadvantages and represents a sustainable, effective alternative to the known roof protection products.
According to the invention, a roofing agent is proposed which has a silver ion releaser which is suitable for dispensing silver ions to rainwater. Silver ions are able to prevent the growth of moss and lichen as they are toxic to these organisms. At the same time, silver ions also have a toxic effect on bacteria and some fungi that can also form part of a fouling. The passage of silver ions into rainwater keeps the area of the roof flushed over with it. A silver ion releaser is understood as meaning a material which, upon contact with rainwater, releases silver ions in solvation.
In one embodiment of the roofing protection agent, the silver ion releaser comprises a silver-containing layer on a surface of a silver support exposed to the rainwater. In addition to elements made of full silver material, since silver is an expensive material, silver-containing layers on suitable surfaces of the roof protection agent are conceivable. A silver support carrying such a silver-containing layer preferably has a structure having a highly rugged or enlarged surface such as a porous material or a material of preferably fine fibers. Alternatively or additionally, for example, the silver carrier may also be an element through which a particularly large amount of rainwater flows.
In a further embodiment of the roof protection agent, the silver-containing layer is a lacquer. A paint is here to be understood as a substance that can be applied to an outer surface of a roof and adhering there. Hardening organic substances are preferably used. In one embodiment, such a paint is mixed with a silver-containing material, such as silver powder or silver-containing compounds. This mixture is applied to the silver carrier. In an alternative embodiment, a conventional lacquer is applied to a silver support and applied to the surface of such a lacquer a silver-containing agent, for example a silver ion-containing solution, or a silver powder or other silver-containing material, preferably a powder material. In this way, a two-layer lacquer of a support layer and a silver-enriched layer, wherein on the outer surface of the lacquer, an increased silver content than further inside the paint or in the direction of the silver carrier. It can also be provided more layers, such as a primer. As a support layer for a silver layer, a conventional roof paint such as brick color, Eternit paint or the like may be used.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the silver-containing layer is a silver coating. Such a silver coating is, for example, applied galvanically. Typical carrier materials are metals and plastics, in particular high-alloyed stainless steel, copper or conductive plastics. Carbon fibers can also be used. Alternatively, the layer may also be prepared by a chemical reaction with a material having the silver support on its surface.
In another embodiment, the silver carrier is a roofing element, preferably a brick, a shingle, a plate or other component of the roof outside. In this way, the elements mentioned as Auführungsbeispiele advantageously a double benefit.
In yet another embodiment, the silver carrier is a textile. The use of a textile has the advantage that at relatively low volume, a large surface for the release of silver ions is available. Examples of textiles are woven fabrics, braids, scrims, knits and, due to their three-dimensional structure, particularly preferred knitted fabrics. As textiles in the sense of this patent application also nonwovens or fiber flakes are considered.
In a further embodiment, the textile comprises plastics and / or metal. Particularly preferred are stainless steel and copper. These materials have particularly suitable properties for use as silver carrier, in particular a long life. The textiles may alternatively or additionally include, for example, ceramic fibers or glass fibers. In addition, silver fibers of full silver or silver alloy can be used, e.g. B. as a mixed fiber.
In a further embodiment, the roof protection means is arranged in a section of the roof, which is arranged in the middle and / or at the top in or on the roof with respect to a rainwater drainage direction. By such an arrangement, it is not necessary to provide a roof protection means even in the lower area of the roof, since the rainwater is loaded in the middle and / or upper region with silver ions and its effect unfolds further down in the roof. Particularly preferably, the roof protection means is arranged on or on the ridge or in a topmost portion of the roof, for example a first row of bricks, shingles, roof tiles or the like.
The invention can also find application for the protection of the outer sides of walls. Again, an inventive antifouling agent is preferably disposed in an upper portion of a wall.
In a further aspect of the present invention, a roof with a roof protection means according to one of the above-described embodiments is proposed.
In yet another aspect of the present invention, there is proposed use of a roof protector according to any of the above-described embodiments for protecting a roof from fouling.
An embodiment of the roof protection means according to the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the figure.
Bevorzugt ist das Dachschutzmittel
