Um die Membran zu reinigen, wird im Gasleitungssystem Druck abgeblasen, damit sich die Membran entspannen kann und auf die Tragwand legt. Dieser Entspannungsvorgang darf jedoch nicht schlagartig erfolgen, sondern durch langsames Ausströmen des Gases aus dem Zwischenraum. Das wird durch den starren Ventilteller des erfindungsgemäßen Ventilelements erreicht, der auf der Oberseite der Tragwand des Hohlprofilkörpers direkt aufliegt, d. h., ohne Zwischenschaltung von irgendwelchen Dichtelementen, wie z. B. Gummiringen. Schon allein wegen der Oberflächenrauhigkeit der Oberseite der Tragwand des Hohlprofilkörpers und der Unterseite des Ventiltellers liegt eine Undichtigkeit vor, die ein langsames Rückströmen des Gases aus dem Zwischenraum in den Gaszufuhrkanal erlaubt. Die Membran kann sich somit langsam entspannen und allmählich auf die Tragwand des Hohlprofilkörpers legen. Die gewünschte Undichtigkeit des Ventiltellers auf der Tragwand kann natürlich auch durch gezielte Maßnahmen, z. B.
