It is known that photographic motifs of digital photographs are separated from the image background by certain photographic processes or made transparent in order to place the thus separated motifs in front of any desired backgrounds. The process is referred to as "cropping" in digital photography, the exempted motifs as "cropping". In analog photography, various methods are known to produce cropped subjects. Among other things, the subjects are cut out or covered by a corresponding template during the exposure of the photo paper. In digital photography, cut-outs are produced through digital image processing. For a so-called mask is generated. The mask defines image areas that are to be made completely or partially transparent. In this way, the entire image background can be made transparent or transparent parts of the motif can be made transparent. For example, a drinking glass can be separated along its outer contours from the image background. The recognizable by the glass image background would then still recognizable in the exempted motif. To eliminate this residual background as well, the recognizable background areas are also removed.
The digital exemption is based on a processing of the image data and is feasible with commercially available image processing programs. In order to be able to create the cropping, the image motif must, if possible, already be photographed on a uniform and shadow-free background. Subsequently, a mask is created manually or by means of automatic recognition of edges on the basis of contrast or color values. These procedures are very inaccurate. Contrast value detection does not allow transparency or transitions. Slightly improved results can be achieved by the known methods by using a so-called "green screen" or a "blue screen" - also known as color-based image release. Here, the image is scanned in front of a uniform blue or green background. In follow-up, all blue or green areas are then masked. The procedure using "green screen" or "blue screen" has the obvious disadvantage that the subject itself may have no blue - when using a "blue screen" - or no green - when using a "green screen" - areas. Regardless of whether with or without blue or green areas in the subject, the colored background easily creates color casts on the subject or colored artifacts on its edge. All known conventional Bildfreistellungsverfahren has in common that the desired result is achieved only by a costly post-processing on the screen.
The indicated in claim 1 invention is based on the problem of reducing the cost of an exemption in digital imaging and improve the results achieved qualitatively, with color cast for transparency and transitions are avoided.
This problem is solved by the features listed in claim 1.
The advantages achieved by the invention are, in particular, that the mask for release is not generated from the actual color information of an image, but from the difference between two images with the same subject. This noticeably improves the quality of the cropped subjects and the results of digital image processing. Specifically, the relief becomes more accurate, especially in transparent areas and at the edges and transitions, errors are significantly reduced compared to the conventional automatic exemption by image editing programs. This reduces the costs for digital image processing, as individual post-processing is unnecessary.
(9).Exemplary embodiment: The photos are taken by means of a camera ( 1 ) generated by the illuminated subject ( 2 ) in front of a special background ( 3 ), which is mechanically, in particular with black or white cloth, paper, etc. or electronically by means of flash, monitor, as a television with black, white or colored image or by means of a self-illuminating plan or curved surface whose luminous color is changeable, placed on a photo table , Then at least two shots are taken. The position of the digital camera ( 1 ) and the placement of the illuminated subject ( 3 ) unchanged. The mask can be created in different ways depending on the nature of the subject. For the embodiment underlying the claim 1 the background ( 3 ) changed in color for individual recordings. One of the shots ( 5 ) of the motif ( 2 ) can be in front of a black ( 3 ), the other ( 6 ) in front of a white background ( 3 ) respectively. Possible are any color changes. Colors in the sense of claim 1 are also black and white. To create the mask, the image information of both photos is subtracted. The masks can then be converted to gray values ( 7 ), normalized and inverted ( 8th ) become. To apply the mask, the brightness values from the mask are taken over into the transparency or alpha channel of the product photo. The greater the brightness values of a pixel in the mask, the lower the transparency of the pixel in the product photograph. To improve the quality, the results can be superimposed. ( 9 ).
In a further embodiment according to claim 2, the illuminated subject ( 2 ) instead of a black or colored and a white or otherwise colored background ( 3 ), with four shots taken in front of a red, green, blue and neutral background. From the photo with red background the red channel, from the photo with green background the green channel and from the photo with blue background the blue channel is removed. To create the mask, the first three photos are superimposed. The mask is applied to the photo with a neutral background as before. Another application for larger motifs ( 2 ) offers the creation of the mask according to the flash-shadow method, as in claim 3. Here, a normally lit photo of the subject ( 2 ) created. In addition, a second photo is created with strong backlight on which the background ( 3 ) maximum bright and the subject ( 2 ) appear dark at most. The position of the subject ( 2 ) is exactly the same on both photos. The mask is created by normalizing and inverting the photo with the light background ( 7 . 8th ). To apply the mask, the brightness values from the mask are taken over into the transparency or alpha channel of the product photo. The greater the brightness values of a pixel in the mask, the lower the transparency of the pixel in the product photograph. Also a so-called. 3D recording is described as a further application. This is done to create an animation that gives the impression of a rotation of the subject ( 2 ) around the vertical axis, the motif ( 2 ) on a turntable against the background ( 3 ) centered. Multiple frames are created in the desired rotation interval, maximum until full rotation. The plate is rotated by a fixed amount. By using multiple cameras on an arc perpendicular to the axis of rotation or by using a camera movable on this arc, a rotation of the subject on two axes can be made possible. It will be created using a method according to claim 1 photos and created a freed-up photo. The captured frames are strung together to create a continuous animation and displayed for a specific duration. Alternatively, the viewing angle can be freely selected with the aid of a suitable presentation program; Depending on the selected viewing angle, the appropriate single image is displayed here. In the exemplary embodiments of the method according to claim 1 or 2, by the representation of grid lines in the background ( 3 ) the refraction of light in fully transparent or semitransparent objects, eg. B. filled with water glasses are taken into account. After creating the photos required for the mask, a distortion matrix is created by creating multiple shots with differently positioned lines in the background. This matrix is stored independently of the generated product photo and can be used in professional photomontages to distort the artificially inserted background. Based on claim 1, a groove can be used as the background, which is made of a material that can be either self-luminous, translucent or reflective switch between black and white, a color change allowed. In the groove, a turntable made of a material having the same described properties as those of the background can be inserted almost seamlessly and invisibly for the camera ( ). This embodiment has the advantage that the subject can be photographed from any angle or at the same time from different angles, since not only the rear wall or only the floor, but floor and rear wall are free of interruptions or shadows for an exemption by the method.
