Description
Gebiet der ErfindungField of the invention
The invention relates to an impregnated abrasive paper high flexibility and a basis weight 110-360 g / m 2 according to the preamble of claim 1, a sandpaper produced therefrom and a method for producing such Schleifrohpapiere and abrasive papers.
Stand der TechnikState of the art
Typical dry sanding papers are very dense, less porous and much stiffer than wet sandpaper.
Dry abrasive papers are impregnated with 0-15% of a synthetic resin and have a basis weight of 65-200 g / m 2 . To reduce the absorbency of these papers are glued. Dry abrasive papers are typically coated directly with the base resin, but may also have a barrier line between the paper surface and the base resin. Dry abrasive papers have the disadvantage that the pulp used for their production is very heavily ground. These papers are therefore only slightly porous and very stiff. Due to the low porosity, often associated with a complete sizing, these papers are hardly absorbent and the impregnation does not penetrate the paper, but is mainly on the two surfaces. As a result, the paper is sealed well against the subsequently applied base coat and on a barrier line can be dispensed with in many cases. Due to the high rigidity, these sanding papers bend easily at the edges. As a result, the bond between base coat and paper carrier is damaged and the abrasive grain breaks at these points. A similar effect occurs at point loads during the grinding process. The stiff dry-sanding paper does not spread these loads evenly over a larger area, as is the case with flexible wet-sanding papers, but absorbs all the stress at the point of origin. This often leads to overloading of the bond between the base coat and the paper and consequently to a tearing of the abrasive grains at this point.

According to this method, synthetic resin dispersions are added to the pulp by up to 20% to suitably impregnate the fibers.
Zusammenfassung der ErfindungSummary of the invention
This object is achieved by a base paper with the features of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments are given in claims 2 to 6. An abrasive paper comprising such an impregnated abrasive base paper is given in claim 7. A method for producing such a base paper is disclosed in claim 8.
The abrasive base paper according to the invention is partially glued by means of a synthetic sizing agent. The addition amount of the sizing agent is between 0.5% -3.0% based on the dry fibers, so that the abrasive base paper has a suction height in the longitudinal direction of 2 mm to 70 mm. Furthermore, the abrasive base paper is impregnated with an aqueous impregnating agent. The abrasive base paper has a tensile stiffness index in the longitudinal direction of 2.0 MNm / kg to 7.0 MNm / kg and a modulus of elasticity in the longitudinal direction of 2000 to 5500 MPa.
The inventive abrasive base paper can preferably be used as a replacement for the known dry abrasive papers. However, use as wet sandpaper is also possible.
Abrasive materials, for example abrasive belts and grinding wheels, which are produced from the inventive abrasive base paper have a significantly longer service life than abrasives from the known dry abrasive papers. Due to the much higher flexibility and elasticity of the abrasive base paper according to the invention, the abrasives produced therefrom better absorb the punctiform loads and edge loads arising during use. As a result, significantly fewer abrasive grains are torn and the abrasive can be used much longer than an abrasive made from the known dry abrasive papers.
Detaillierte Beschreibung der Erfindung, AusführungsbeispieleDetailed description of the invention, embodiments
The abrasive paper according to the invention comprises an impregnated abrasive base paper which contains a synthetic sizing agent and has been sanded on at least one side. To better anchor the base coat, which adheres the abrasive grains to the paper, the impregnated abrasive base paper can be coated with a barrier coat before applying the base coat. To increase the softness and smoothness, the impregnated abrasive base paper can still be calendered.
Natural, synthetic and / or inorganic fibers are used to produce the abrasive base paper according to the invention. Examples of suitable natural fibers are cellulose fibers from softwoods, hardwoods, cotton and other suitable plants. Other examples of natural fibers are wool and silk.
Geeignete synthetische Fasern sind z. B. Fasern aus Regeneratzellulose, Polyester, Polypropylen, Polyvinylalkohol, Polyamid und Mehrkomponentenfasern.Suitable synthetic fibers are, for. As fibers of regenerated cellulose, polyester, polypropylene, polyvinyl alcohol, polyamide and multi-component fibers.
Geeignete anorganische Fasern sind z. B. Glasfasern, Basaltfasern und Kohlefasern.Suitable inorganic fibers are, for. As glass fibers, basalt fibers and carbon fibers.
The fibers are dispersed in water in a known manner. To the pulp thus produced is then added according to the invention so much of a synthetic sizing agent that the fibers are partially covered on their surface with sizing. It is important to ensure that not too much sizing agent is added and the fibers are completely covered. The partial covering of the fiber surface with the sizing agent, also called partial sizing, reduces the absorbency of the abrasive base paper formed from this pulp. The reduced absorbency of the abrasive base paper according to the invention causes a lower water and impregnant absorption in the subsequent impregnation with aqueous impregnating agents. This allows working with higher solids contents of the impregnating agent and during the drying of the impregnated paper carrier Much less water must be removed, as with a comparably impregnated, unsized abrasive base paper. It was surprisingly found that in contrast to a fully sized abrasive base paper, in which the fibers are completely covered with the sizing agent according to the invention, the aqueous impregnating agent is equally equally distributed in the paper as in a not sized paper.
The amount of synthetic sizing agent necessary for a partial sizing of the abrasive raw paper according to the invention is determined by the suction height of the paper support. In this case, so much synthetic sizing agent is added that a suction height in the longitudinal direction according to DIN ISO 8787 of 2-70 mm, preferably 3-65 mm and particularly preferably 5-60 mm is achieved. Since the pulp is not or only very slightly ground for the production of abrasive raw paper according to the invention, the suction height is determined solely by the amount of added synthetic sizing agent. Thus, it is also apparent that only synthetic sizing agents are suitable for the production of the abrasive base paper according to the invention, which are not subject to post-maturation, that is, which have completely reacted already at the end of the paper production process. The addition amount of the synthetic sizing agent is between 0.5-3.0% based on the dry fibers. The synthetic sizing agent can be added to both the thinstock and the thick stock. For example, the synthetic sizing agent can be dosed directly into the pulper or added before and / or after the vertical sizer.
Suitable synthetic sizing agents for producing the inventive abrasive base paper are, for example, styrene-acrylic acid ester copolymers, acrylonitrile-acrylic acid ester copolymers, mixtures of alkyldiketene and acrylic ester copolymers, styrene-acrylic acid ester copolymers, acrylic ester copolymers or mixtures thereof. The synthetic sizing agents may be nonionic, anionic, cationic or amphoteric.
Especially when anionic synthetic sizing agents are used, it may be necessary to use a cationic polyelectrolyte as a retention agent to bind the anionic synthetic sizing agent to the likewise anionic cellulose fiber. Suitable retention agents are, for. B. bentonites, polyacrylamides, polyethyleneimines, polyvinylamines or mixtures thereof.
In addition, the paper stock can be further added, if necessary, further customary in papermaking auxiliaries, such as wet strength agents, fillers, fixing agents and / or colors.

The longitudinal direction is understood to mean the paper maker's usual designation for the running direction of the paper through the paper machine. Transverse direction therefore refers to the direction at 90 ° angle across the direction of the paper.
The abrasive base paper is then impregnated. That is, the paper is impregnated with an impregnating agent. An impregnation penetrates the entire abrasive base paper evenly and thus differs from a superficially applied coating. The Impregnation is necessary in order to give the inventive abrasive base paper the necessary strength and flexibility, to create a non-absorbent substrate for the subsequent coatings and to glue the individual fibers together so strongly that the abrasive grains applied in a subsequent operation are not due to weak fiber Fiber bonds during use from the surface of the abrasive paper according to the invention tear.
Nicht imprägnierte erfindungsgemäße Schleifrohpapiere haben üblicherweise eine Spaltfestigkeit in Querrichtung von 1,3–1,5 N/25 mm.Fully glued papers are not uniformly soaked by the water-repellent effect of the sizing agent of aqueous impregnating agents. The impregnating agent remains mainly on the two surfaces of the paper carrier with vollgeleimten papers and does not penetrate into the depth of the paper carrier. The impregnation acts on glued papers like a double-sided coating. A person skilled in the art would have expected a partially glued paper carrier to have a similar effect to a fully glued paper carrier. To the surprise of the inventors, however, it has been shown that with the partial sizing according to the invention a complete and uniform penetration of the abrasive raw paper according to the invention with aqueous impregnating agents takes place. This can be demonstrated very well on the basis of the gap strength. The nip strength measures the fiber-fiber bond perpendicular to the surface of the paper carrier. Impregnated paper supports in which the impregnant is concentrated only on the surface of the paper support have a nip strength equivalent to that of the unimpregnated paper support, while paper supports completely saturated with impregnant have a significantly higher nip strength. The gap strength, measured in the transverse direction, for the inventive impregnated abrasive base paper is 1.5-6.0 N / 25 mm, preferably 1.8-5.5 N / 25 mm and particularly preferably 2.0-5.0 N / 25 mm. Non-impregnated abrasive base papers according to the invention usually have a transverse splitting strength of 1.3-1.5 N / 25 mm.
Due to the uniform impregnation agent absorption all fibers in the paper carrier are glued together. As a result, a very high fiber-fiber bond is achieved, which in turn causes a high strength of the abrasive base paper. Therefore, grinding of the fibers used can largely be dispensed with. Papers made from unmilled or slightly milled fibers are very soft and flexible. Similar strength can also be achieved by increasing the fiber surfaces by heavy grinding and then pressing the fibers under high pressures. However, papers made in this way are very hard and stiff. The advantage of the uniform distribution of the aqueous impregnating agent in the abrasive base paper according to the invention is therefore high strength combined with high flexibility and softness. Flexibility and softness can be described by the tensile stiffness or the tensile stiffness index and the modulus of elasticity according to DIN ISO 1924-3.

To produce the abrasive paper, the impregnated and calendered base paper according to the invention is still sanded. Besanden is understood to mean the application of a base coat to the inventive abrasive base paper, the subsequent sprinkling of the abrasive grain, the drying of the base coat, the application of a topcoat to the abrasive grain and the final drying of the topcoat. The base coat consists z. Example of epoxy resin, phenolic resin, alkyd resin, urea resin or mixtures thereof. The resins are dispersed in a suitable solvent and applied to the abrasive base paper. If the impregnated abrasive base paper has a stop line, the base coat is applied to the barrier line. The abrasive grains are then sprinkled onto the still-wet basecoat, the individual grains being optimally aligned by electrostatic devices on the abrasive base paper. Subsequently, the abrasive base paper coated with the wet base coat and the abrasive grains adhering thereto runs in a drying oven in which the base coat is dried. After drying, the abrasive grains are coated with the topcoat. The topcoat is usually a hard, thermosetting resin which additionally anchors the abrasive grains on the sandpaper. The sanding is completed by the hardening of the primer and topcoat. The abrasive paper according to the invention is used as grinding wheels, abrasive belts and bow-shaped abrasive articles.

Spaltfestigkeit in Querrichtung:Splitting strength in the transverse direction:
Messbereich 0,5 F
Programm Nassschleif-Spaltfestigkeit
Geschwindigkeit 300 mm/min
Klemmenabstand 25 mm
Vorweg 20 mm
Prüfstrecke 80 mmFrom a previous 24 hours at 23 ° C and 50% relative humidity air-conditioned abrasive paper pattern 2 strips are cut with 50 mm wide and 200 mm in length. The 200 mm long side runs transversely to the direction of the paper. On the front and back of these patterns are then about 150 mm long strips of Scotch 3M 365 adhesive tape without wrinkles glued so that at one end of the paper by about 50 mm protrudes. This composite is then subsequently pressed with a 4.5 kg heavy and 50 mm wide steel roll. The steel roller is rolled over the composite by hand twice without additional pressure. From each strip, consisting of the abrasive base paper sample and the test adhesive tape on both sides of the paper, a sample 25 mm wide and 200 mm long is cut. From the end, where the paper survives, the tape is pulled by hand a short distance on one side, so that the paper is split over the entire width of the sample. Preferably, the splitting is carried out on the paper side on which the test adhesive tape adheres the most. Depending on the coating of the paper, splitting may be difficult. In the case of poor adhesion of the test adhesive tape to the abrasive base paper to be tested and with very high gap strength, the abrasive base paper to be tested must be carefully cut with a razor blade and then further split with the aid of the test adhesive tape. The measurement of the gap strength takes place in a universal testing machine from Zwick type Roell Z 0.5 with the following settings:
Measuring range 0.5 F
Program wet grinding gap strength
Speed 300 mm / min
Terminal distance 25 mm
Preliminary 20 mm
Test track 80 mm
Das Ergebnis ist der Mittelwert aus zwei EinzelmessungenThe Scotch 3M 365 test tape removed by hand is clamped in the upper clamp of the tensile tester. The sandpaper to be tested with the second strip of test adhesive tape adhering to it is clamped in the lower clamp of the universal testing machine in such a way that the composite protrudes at 90 ° to the pulling direction. During the measurement it must be ensured that the cleavage takes place in the middle of the tape paper to be tested and not just individual fibers are torn from the paper surface. Measurements in which the cleavage does not take place in the middle of the paper are discarded and repeated. The average force needed to split the paper is measured. The result is the mean of two individual measurements
