Eine derartige Anordnung erspart das Anbringen eines kompletten zweiten Tonarms in der Peripherie des Plattentellers und hat darüber hinaus den Vorteil, dass lediglich an dem Trägerelement entweder auf ein und derselben Laufschiene oder einer gesonderten Laufschiene ein weiteres Laufelement mit einem Tonabnehmerträger geführt werden muss. Der technische Aufwand hierfür ist vergleichsweise gering. Besonders vorteilhaft ist es für die Bedienerfreundlichkeit, wenn wenigstens ein dem Innenbereich der Platte zugeordneter Tonabnehmerträger in eine ihm zugewiesenen Parkposition verrastet werden kann.
