The metal piece (1) is then pressed in such a way that the metal strip (2) is positively connected to the metal piece (1) and the connection point (6) and the metal piece (1) have almost the same thickness.
Description
The invention relates to a method for connecting a solid metal piece, in particular a metal rail made of copper or aluminum, which is connected for example to a printed circuit board, with a flexible metal strip, such as a copper wire or a ground strap made of copper.
In the automotive electronics flow due to the low vehicle electrical system voltage and still required higher power currents, which can be several tens of amps to over 100 amps. For this purpose, lines with a correspondingly large cross section are required to keep the resistance of the lines and the associated heating low. In addition, there is the problem of connecting such lines with each other. Due to the high currents, the compounds must be both large-scale and also remain resistant and corrosion-free over a long time. Therefore, the metal lines are usually welded together to meet these requirements.
However, these known connection techniques are on the one hand consuming and on the other hand lead to the fact that the thickness of the joint is greater than the thickness of the metal piece, which is often undesirable.
The object of the present invention is therefore to avoid these disadvantages.
The object is achieved by a method for connecting a solid metal piece to a flexible metal strip, in which first an opening is made in the metal piece, into which the metal strip is then inserted. Thereafter, the metal piece is pressed so that the metal strip is positively connected to the metal piece and the joint and the metal piece have almost the same thickness.
The inside of the opening can be structured in an advantageous development prior to insertion of the metal strip.
The attachment of the opening in the metal piece can be done advantageously by slitting and spreading one end of the metal piece.
By the method according to the invention can be easily produced a stable and secure connection between a metal piece and a metal strip, wherein the thickness of the obtained joint is not greater than that of the metal piece.
The invention will be explained in more detail using an exemplary embodiment with the aid of figures.
