Der Eismolch wird mittels einer Zerteileinrichtung im Bereich der nicht vollständig gefrorenen Bereiche zerteilt, bevorzugt so, daß neben einem Eismolch auch Splitter oder Eisgranulat entsteht. Zur Herstellung des Eismolchs wird bevorzugt die Transportleitung lokal gekühlt, z. B. durch außen die Leitung umgebende Kühleinrichtungen, welche mit einem Kühlmedium beschickt werden, oder durch Einleiten des Kühlmediums in die Transportleitung selbst. Beim lokalen Kühlen entsteht der Eismolch in der Transportleitung und muß nicht durch Schleusen eingebracht werden. Entsprechende lokale Kühl- und Heizvorrichtungen können dabei in regelmäßigen Abständen vorgesehen werden, abhängig vom Rohrquerschnitt und der gewünschten Molchlänge. Die Vorrichtungen zum Erstellen der Eismolche können bei bestehenden Rohrleitungssystemen bequem nachgerüstet werden, da lediglich das Anbringen einer manschettenartigen Kühl-/Heizvorrichtung an der Außenwand des Rohres erforderlich ist.
